With community participation, cleanness of Holy Bein started at Kanjli

Kapurthala : In a historic step , the cleanness drive of Holy Bein has been launched today with “community participation “ at Kanjli wetland by Rajya Sabha member Baba Balbir singh Seechewal , Deputy commissioner Mr. Vishesh sarangal.

The drive will focus on removing hyacinth from holy bein from Kanjli wetland to Villa kothi with participation of people from various walks of life .Earlier in a meeting of officials , Baba Balbir singh Seechewal and Deputy commissioner Mr Sarangal said that it is a privilege for all to perform the Sewa at holy Bein on the bank of which Guru Nanak Dev ji gave the message of humanity and brotherhood.

Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration would provide technical guidance for the cleanliness of holy Bein as officials of the Drainage department have been deputed for the same.He asked the SDO Drainage to conduct a survey to install nets to create check on hyacinth at Subhanpur and some other point so that it could be stopped before Kanjli wetland.

Urging the people for larger participation in this noble cause , Deputy commissioner said that the cleanness of water resources is not only a matter of faith but also important as these are the biggest sources of ground water recharge in the Doaba region.

Terming the Holy Bein and Kanjli wetland as a great potential sites for tourism, Deputy commissioner said that the kanjli wetland has rich biodiversity comprising aquatic, mesophytic and terrestrial flora and fauna including some important species of plants and animals was recognized internationally by the Ramsar Convention in 2002 by designating the Kanjli Lake in the list of Wetlands of International importance.

It may be mentioned here that the district administration has taken an initiative by organising Baisakhi mela in April 2021.Prominent amongst present on the occasion included Municipal corporation Commissioner Anupam Kler , religious leaders Baba Amrik singh and Baba leader singh , AAP joint secretary Gurpal singh, AAP leaders Kanwar Iqbal singh , Parminder singh Dhot .
