Hoshiarpur : Getting the COVID vaccination started at GNA Mehtiana on Monday for beneficiaries of 18 to 44 years of age, MLA from Chabbewal Dr Raj Kumar called upon rural populace to come forward for vaccination, which is must amid unprecedented rise in COVID curve.Lauding the health team of CHC Harta Badla, Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that the death rate in rural areas due to COVID is four time high than urban ones in the second wave. It is necessitated to break the chain of further transmission  of infection to save precious lives in rural areas, said the MLA adding that the State Government under CM Captain Amarinder Singh taking all possible steps to keep the virus at bay but at the same time people should adhere to COVID health safety protocols. He said that vaccination camps are being started by the District Administration in villages where eligible beneficiaries could get the jab.  He told that the industries like GNA where most of working staff hailing from rural areas, are taking appreciable step by ensuring vaccination of their workforce. MLA added as many as 300 eligible beneficiaries in 18-44 age group received first dose of the vaccine on the first day of camp, which will remain in process to cover remaining ones. Efforts of GNA group were commendable as it had got more than 1800 workers vaccinated besides distributing N-95 masks and sanitizers to them. In an appeal to the rural folk to adhere to the guidelines of the health department, MLA said that spread of the Covid in the villages is cause of concern and we should not be complacent at any circumstances in larger public interest.The health team under the supervision of Dr Raj Kumar administrated the vaccine to all the eligible.On the occasion, GNA group CEO Ranvir Singh Sihra, Director Gurdeep Singh Sihra and Pro-Chancellor Kirat Singh not only thanked Punjab Government but also urged the eligible beneficiaries to receive the doses of COVID vaccine as soon as possible.
