Sultanpur Lodhi to be developed as a religious tourism destination under Smart City project
Sultanpur Lodhi /Kapurthala : Deputy Commissioner, Kapurthala Mr. Vishesh Sarangal said that the holy city of Sultanpur Lodhi will be developed as a major religious tourism centre under Smart City projects. Reviewing the ongoing development works under the Smart City project here today during a meeting with the officials of various departments, Deputy Commissioner directed them to work with dedication to ensure the timely completion of the ongoing development works.
He also directed the officials of the Public Works Department to pay special attention to the quality of road construction to connect the Sultanpur Lodhi city with 4 lane roads. It may be mentioned here that the work on 17.40 KM long road from Mundi Morh to Sultanpur Lodhi and Dadwindi to Sultanpur Lodhi is going on full swing with the cost of Rs 74.11 crore.
It would ensure the better road connectivity to the holy city to facilitate pilgrims. He also reviewed the progress of the work of establishing four schools as smart schools at Sultanpur Lodhi at a cost of Rs 14 crores, which include government school (boys), government girls school, Primary school and boarding school.
Apart from this, he also inspected the work of solar power projects by PEDA which was near completion. Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the construction work of smart parks at Mori Mohalla, Baba Jawala Singh in the city.
He asked the MC officials to ensure the plantation in parks and open Zym before the monsoon season. Taking serious note of delay in the work of STPs, Mr. Sarangal has directed the Sewerage Board officials to complete the work of sewage treatment plant by the end of June 2023.
Discussing about the Integrated Command Control Center (ICCC) under the Safe City project, the Deputy Commissioner asked the officials of the Public Works Department to complete this work soon, under which 250 CCTVs to be installed for security of the city.
These CCTVs will be linked to a centralized control centre , which will not only improve the security arrangements during the Parkash Purab functions of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji but also help in reducing the crime rate.
Talking about the maintenance of historic Qila Sarai, Deputy Commissioner said that the Department of Archeology has been instructed to speed up the work of the department. Deputy Commissioner also asked the officials to submit the weekly progress reports regarding the progress of smart city projects.
