Speaker Sandhwan organises training program for first-time elected MLAs to familiarise them with budget procedures

Chandigarh : Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Friday organised a special training program for the members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), elected for the first time, to familiarise them with the budget procedures.

Inaugurating the training session here at Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the Speaker urged the new MLAs to take full advantage of the training to get familiarised with the budget procedures.

This training, being imparted by country’s renowned organization “Legislative Research Institute, New Delhi” will be proved quite beneficial for them, said S. Sandhwan.

In the first session, the MLAs were given basic information about the budget and apprised how to prepare the budget and the procedure followed for passing the budget after its presentation in the assembly and debate on it.

They were also apprised about the procedure for participating in the budget debate. During the second session regarding state finances and the legislative trends of India, the MLAs were apprised about the finances of the state government, it’s sources of income and the expenditure besides methods to participate in the budget debate in the House in a meaningful manner.
