Sanjeev Arora, MP distributes degrees to 750 students at GCG

Announce a grant of Rs.50 lacs for the college

Ludhiana : Sanjeev Arora, Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) congratulated Principal Suman Lata for excellent job in maintaining par excellence standard of college while addressing annual convocation at Government College for Girls, Ludhiana.He was chief guest at the convocation in which he distributed degrees to 750 girls’ students & Amit Thapar CII Punjab Chairman was Special Guest.

Congratulating the degree holders, Arora said that women empowerment is need for building a good Nation. He added an educated women always play a vital role in upbringing children who are future of the country.

He asked the degree holders not to be just house wives even after marriage rather they should make every possible effort to fulfil their dreams & make full use of education.Arora appreciated the degree-holders and stated that it was indeed good to note that all the students came to receive their degrees with a smile on their faces.

He lauded the efforts being made by the college in imparting quality education to the girls. He said the college was started with mere 25 girls. He added now the situation has changed as now girls do want to get educated to max possible over the period which is evident from the fact that the strength of students has risen to 3,000.

He said Marks are not that important but it is the Mark you make in life is more relevant.He advised the degree holders not to blindly follow others in their life and think before deciding to settle down abroad.

He added the situation has changed now and people are returning back to their motherland from abroad because they are finding better opportunities here.He also advised the students to work for improving and protecting environment for present and future generations.

Amit Thapar & Principal applauded Arora’s humbleness & philanthropy work undertaken in shape of Cancer Charitable Trust.Referring to a demand made by the college principal Suman Lata and staff, he announced a grant of Rs.50 lakh out of MPLAD Fund.

He added this grant would be allocated equally in two instalments during current and next fiscal for overall further infrastructure development of college. Speaking on the occasion, the convocation’s special guest and chairman CII Punjab Amit Thapar appreciated the services being rendered by Arora.

He said Arora is a true down to earth and humble personality.Arora’s humbleness was witnessed by everyone when Arora came down the stage to handover degree to a student Urvashi Sharma on a wheelchair.

Among others, the college Vice Principal Gurjinder Kaur and Registrar Dr Sharanjit Kaur Parmar also spoke.
