Registration For ‘Khedan Vatan Punjab Diyan’ Extended Up To August 30

Both Online & Offline Registration Can Be Made : Deputy Commissioner

Jalandhar : In view of ensuring maximum participation of youngsters in the ‘Khedan Vatan Punjab Diyan’ sports event to be commenced from August 29 from local Guru Gobind Singh Stadium, the last date of registration has been extended up to August 30, which was earlier August 25.

Decision to this effect was taken in the video conference chaired by the Punjab Chief Secretary V.K. Janjua with the senior officers of Punjab Government and Deputy Commissioners while reviewing the preparations and arrangements being made at the site.

Apprising the Chief Secretary, Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh pointed out that adequate arrangements were being put in place to ensure smooth conduct of this sports extravaganza to be kick-started by the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on National.

He also informed that contingents of sports persons from each district would part of the inaugural ceremony by carrying out a march past and students from schools and colleges would also participate in cultural activities to be organized in the stadium.

The torch-relay will also mark the beginning of this mega sports event, which is to be organized at block and district level and concluded after two-month sports activities across Punjab.

Meanwhile, accompanied by the Maharaja Bhupinder Singh Punjab Sports University’s Vice Chancellor Lt. Gen. J.S. Cheema, the Deputy Commissioner also held a review meeting in the DAC to oversee the ongoing preparations and arrangements.

He directed all the line departments to accomplish the requisite arrangements well within time so that this event could be organized in a big way. He also urged the students of schools and colleges to enthusiastically participate in these games starting from block level on September 1 onwards.

in or if they want to register offline, they will have to visit the District Sports Offices. He said that the sporting events would be held in various age groups including under-14, under-17 and under-21 besides open groups between the age group of 21 and 40, 41 and 50 & above 50 years of age.

BLOCK LEVEL COMPETITIONS: The Deputy Commissioner also mentioned that the Block level competitions will be held at Rurka Kalan, Adampur, Mehatpur, Phillaur, Bhogpur, Lohian, Nakodar, Jalandhar East, Shahkot, Jalandhar West and Nurmahal, where competitions of different sports including Kho-Kho, Football, Athletics, Volleyball, Kabadi and tug-of-war would be held.

Pertinently, as per the schedule the Block level tournaments will be held from September 1 to 7 with games Volleyball, Athletics, Football, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Rope while District Level tournaments taking place from September 12 to 22 would have games Athletics, Football, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Handball, Softball, Judo, Roller Skating, Gatka, Kick Boxing, Hockey, Netball, Badminton, Basketball, Power Lifting, Lawn Tennis, Wrestling, Swimming, Boxing, Table Tennis and Weight Lifting.

Similarly, the State Level tournaments starting from October 10 to 21 will include all district level games, plus Kick Boxing, Archery, Shooting, Chess, Rowing, Gymnastics, Fencing and Power Lifting.
