Nagar : Enhanced cooperation between the public and private healthcare sectors can help battle COVID-19 effectively, said Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan while inaugurating the new COVID care ICU at Fortis Hospital, Mohali.He informed that at the behest of District Administration Fortis Hospital has stepped up its COVID bed capacity to 120 including 75 level 2 and 45 level 3 beds. “Due to presence of major renowned health care establishments in the district, besides local populace, admission requests from neighbouring districts as well as neighbouring states keep pouring in. So, we requested the private hospitals to scale up COVID care units in their establishments. Conceding to our proposition, Fortis has increased the COVID Bed Capacity,” said Dayalan. Pertinently, a fortnight ago Max and other hospitals also increased the isolation ward strength and ICU capacity to render support to the administration.“No single entity can do it alone, the very nature of the COVID-19 crisis calls for a response based on public-private cooperation; we need work together to protect everyone, everywhere,” said Dayalan.Fortis has been an integral part of Mission Fateh and collaborated with the government. The institution is fighting shoulder to shoulder in the battle against COVID. Appreciating the efforts of their team the Deputy Commissioner informed that the hospital has extended a Healthcare package for people opting for home isolation; nearly a hundred people have availed this package involving daily follow up call form Team Fortis. Besides, Convalescent Plasma Therapy is being successfully administered to , being one of the few hospitals in the region to be offering the sameFortis Hospital, Mohali today enhanced its COVID bed capacity to 120 beds. The COVID wing was formally inaugurated by Mr. Girish Dayalan, Deputy Commissioner, Mohali in the presence of Dr. Manjit Singh (Civil Surgeon, Mohali), Mr. Rajesh Dhiman (ACA, GAMADA) and Dr. Harmanjit Kaur (IDSP, Mohali), Mr. Ashish Bhatia (COO, Fortis Healthcare Ltd.), Mr. Abhijit Singh (Zonal Director, Fortis Hospital, Mohali), Dr. GBS Kang (Medical Director) Dr. Amit Kumar Mandal (Director – Pulmonology & Critical care) and Dr. Vikas Bhutani (Director – Internal Medicine).
The Deputy Commissioner interacted with the team of clinicians and administrators at the hospital and appreciated the tireless efforts of the team and the decision of the hospital management to allocate more beds for COVID patients.
