More than 60 percent grievances flagged in previous meeting, resolved

Nagar : The meeting of District Grievances Redressal Committee was held here today under the Chairmanship of Cabinet Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Minister of Cooperation and Jails, Government of Punjab at District Administrative Complex, Mohali. The meeting was attended by MLA Kharar, Kanwar Sandhu, Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan, SSP Satinder Singh, all the ADCs, SDMs, district Heads of Departments, Chairman Market Committee Kharar Harkeshchand Sharma and Members of Grievances Redressal Committee.More than 60 percent issues flagged in the previous meeting have been resolved informed the Minister while talking to the media after the meeting. He said that out of the 21 issues raised, 13 have been resolved while there has been an inadvertent delay in resolution of others due to the pandemic outbreak. In the meanwhile, the resolution of matter pertaining to ‘re-alignment of Rajpura general and revenue administration’ since some matters are as of now being dealt at Rajpura while others at Mohali which is a cause of unwanted inconvenience to public, have been forwarded to State Government, informed Randhawa. Similarly, case for finances required for construction of boundary wall of Government School, Gharuan has been forwarded to the Department of Finance, he added.

The Minister informed that he will be personally take up the very important issue of construction of Sewage Treatment Plant(STP) at Nayagaon with the Local Bodies Minister and the delay in construction of Trauma Centre on Kurali Highway with the Department of Health.He appreciated the efforts put in by the young SDM of Kharar, Himanshu Jain IAS towards ensuring completion of Kharar Flyover which had met inordinate delays in the past due to varied reasons. 90% of the work is complete and with the installation of lights the flyover will be ready by January 15, he informed.Directing all the department heads to resolve public grievances on priority basis, the Minister said that it is understandable that pandemic outbreak affected the work but it is important now to strike a balance between COVID 19 management and resolution of public grievances. A Special Action Committee under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner was constituted on the spot by the Minister for the time bound grievance redressal of the urgent issues flagged in the meeting.Cabinet minister informed that most of the issues were raised in today’s meeting related with cleaning of rural ponds, sewage water disposal, pruning of trees, road patchwork, stray dogs, maintenance of parks and industrial pollution.Chairman Market Committee Kharar, Harkeshchand Sharma thanked the Minister for evincing keen interest in the redressal of public grievances and assured all support to the cause.
