 Health and Family Welfare Minister, Balbir Singh Sidhu distributed 4771 Smart cards to the beneficiaries of four villages namely Sohana, Mataur, Balongi and Shahimajra. While addressing the gathering Minister said that the Punjab Government is working for the development of every section and for this development various schemes have been launched in the state for the welfare of people of Punjab. He said Chief Minister Amrinder Singh led Punjab Government has fulfilled its every promise made to the people of Punjab. Smart Ration Card Scheme is a revolutionary step for distribution of food grains to the genuine beneficiaries.He said that with the implementation of this scheme the process of grain distribution has become

While addressing the gathering Minister said that the Punjab Government is working for the development of every section and for this development various schemes have been launched in the state for the welfare of people of Punjab. Smart Ration Card Scheme is a revolutionary step for distribution of food grains to the genuine beneficiaries.He said that with the implementation of this scheme the process of grain distribution has become transparent. With the Smart Ration Card one can get their food grain from any approved depot in the state. Among the recipients of Smart Ration Cards were 900 beneficiaries from village Sohana, 752 from Mataur, 594 beneficiaries from village Shahi Majra and 2525 were from Balongi.Further, the Minister said that Punjab Government has created a card for every eligible beneficiary so that the food grains provided by the government at affordable rates could be easily availed by the eligible people. He said that the Punjab government has not only provided smart ration cards to the people but also provided health insurance of Rs. 5 lakh per card holder which would be of a great assistance to them.Minister informed that Smart Ration Cards have a special chip which has been linked with the ePOS machines available with the depot holders so that no beneficiary would have to face any hassle to get the wheat and through the use of this card the eligible beneficiaries or their family members, whose details are be mentioned in the card, can get their food grains from anyfair price shop in Punjab.
