Apart from this Lt. Gen. Manoj Kumar Mago, Vishisht Seva Medal, Army Medal, General Officer Commanding, Chetak Corps, Deputy Commissioner Fazilka Mr. Arvind Pal Singh Sandhu, District and Sessions Judge Mr. Tarsem Mangla, SSP Mr. Harjit Singh also paid his respects.Paying homage to the martyrs on the occasion, Lieutenant General Mr. Alok Kler, Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal, General Officer Commanding in Chief, Sapt Shakti Command said that today we have come together to pay homage to the heroic soldiers who fought valiantly for the protection of the borders of the country and is known to the people of the area as the ‘saviours of Fazilka’. Referring to the warm relationship of the army with people of Fazilka, he said that the people and the army walk together here and the army is proud of this relationship. He also paid tributes to the families of the martyrs of the 1971 war whose family members had sacrificed their lives for the country.

Responding to questions from the media on the occasion, Lt. Gen. Alok kler, said that the Indian Army is fully capable and committed to protect the country’s borders. . “Whether it is Pakistan or the Chinese border, our troops are ready to face any situation and any mistake made by the enemy will have to pay a heavy price,” he said.He called upon the youth to serve the country by enlisting in the army as much as possible but those who could not join the army should serve their country with a military spirit.Arriving here on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Arvind Pal Singh Sandhu and President of Shaheedon Ki Samadhi Committee Mr. Sandeep Gilhotra also presented a memento to him. Here Mr. Praful Nagpal welcome the guests on behalf of the committee and Mr. Karan Gilhotra thanked the gathering. Brigadier Dhanjay Palsokar also addressed the gathering.Apart from Brigadier Mr. Hardeep Singh, Mr. Ved Prakash DIG Border Security Force, Army, BSF and Civil Administration officers, office bearers of Shaheedon Ki Samadhi Committee, families of martyrs and other people of the area were also present on the occasion.Earlier, a light and sound program was held last night depicting the 1971 battle at Beriwala.
