Ludhiana : Further escalating the speed of the Covid inoculation drive in the Ludhiana, Food, Civil and Supplies Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on Saturday inaugurated a vaccination camp in The Crainels Printers, Kochar Market road, here.Terming the vaccine a weapon against the pathogen, the Cabinet Minister said that only drive at a highly accelerated pace can help to reach herd immunity earlier so all the eligible must turn up in large numbers at the vaccination centers to get the jabs without any sort of hesitation and fear. Ashu said that as soon as doses of the vaccines would be administered to maximum eligible beneficiaries, we would be able to break the transmission cycle. He said in Ludhiana around 4 lakh beneficiaries have taken the vaccine into their arms which is not much satisfactory and we all need to contribute to the war against the invisible enemy, which is spreading aggressively. The Cabinet Minister told that the administration is leaving no stone unturned to facilitate the people in this vaccination drive and holding the camps nearest their homes but people need to cooperate wholeheartedly with the officials who are making the relentless efforts to give a shield to them.
He also appealed to local NGOs to leave no stone unturned to ensure every eligible resident (above the age of 45) was immunized against Covid-19 so that the target of vaccinating all eligible beneficiaries can be achieved at the earliest. Ashu pointed out that the volunteers of NGOs can reach out to people to resolve all their doubts/rumours about vaccines by sharing their personal experience of getting vaccinated as this two-way communication would leave indelible imprints on the minds of people while encouraging them to volunteer for the immunization.Meanwhile, the Cabinet Minister and Deputy Commissioner also released a documentary prepared by NGO City Needs on the Covid pandemic.Prominent among those present on the occasion included ADC (D) Sandeep Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr Sukhjeevan Kakkar, Civil Surgeon Covid Dr Kiran Gill, Dr SB Pandhi, Maneet Dewan, besides several others.
