Arvind Kejriwal interacted with lawyers of Punjab
Aam Aadmi Party will form government in Punjab, and this government will be of lawyers: Arvind Kejriwal
Amritsar : “About 80,000 lawyers from Punjab will form their own government by joining the Aam Aadmi Party so that all the problems of the lawyers’ community as well as Punjab and the people can be solved. I’ve come to form a relationship with the lawyers.” These were the words of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the program ‘Arvind Kejriwal’s meeting with Lawyers’ at Amritsar. Kejriwal further said that Aam Aadmi Party can give a better future to the country including Punjab, can solve the problems of common people, lawyers, teachers. Bhagwant Mann, AAP Punjab President and Member of Parliament, Harpal Singh Cheema, Leader of Opposition, Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, Zora Singh (Retd. Justice), Vipan Kumar Dhand, Bar Association President Amritsar and other leaders were present on the occasion.Addressing the lawyers from all over Punjab including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur and Ferozepur, Arvind Kejriwal said, “The lawyers in Delhi were very supportive of the Aam Aadmi Party. That is why when AAP contested for the second time; it won 67 out of 70 seats. The BJP’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi was defeated by AAP’s lawyer candidate.
Kejriwal also said that after the formation of the government in Delhi, the problems of lawyers were solved on priority basis. Medical and ‘Life Risk’ insurance cover has been provided to lawyers and their families, Chambers in the courts for lawyers were set up. The families of the insured victims received financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakhs at the untimely death of almost 130 lawyers during Corona pandemic. The 1150 lawyers who were under treatment received a relief of about Rs 9 crore, as the cost of treatment under medical insurance was paid by the insurance company.Seeking the cooperation of the entire legal community for the Punjab Assembly elections, Kejriwal said, “The Aam Aadmi Party will form the government in Punjab, but this government will be of lawyers. We will work closely with the lawyers and resolve all the issues of Punjab.” He promised that the demands of the lawyers would be met immediately after the formation of the government. Chambers for lawyers in the courts, special benches of the High Court will be set up and all kinds of insurance will be provided to the lawyers and their families.
Addressing the lawyers’ community, Bhagwant Mann thanked Arvind Kejriwal for attending the lawyers’ meeting and said, “The Aam Aadmi Party has the highest number of lawyers, journalists, artists and teachers as the Aam Aadmi Party, like other traditional parties, doesn’t prefer nepotism to facilitate only the members of their own families and realtives.” AAP has given a platform to ordinary families to enter politics.Mann said that Arvind Kejriwal promises only what he can deliver. He is not talking about buses on water or holding rallies on the moon. The Aam Aadmi Party government will not be a part of the mafia state but will be a part of the sufferings of the common man.Earlier Zora Singh (Retd. Justice), AAP’s Legal Wing State President and Vipan Kumar Dhand, President of Amritsar Bar Association also addressed the gathering. AAP Legal Cell Vice President Navdeep Singh Jida, State Secretary Kashmir Singh Malhi, Joint Secretary Narinder Singh Tiwana, Party District President Parminder Singh Sethi, Inder Prati Singh Anand and all District Presidents of Legal Cells were present on the occasion.
