Jalandhar : With an aim to accord top priority to early redressal of complaints filed by women, Punjab State Women Commission Chairperson Manisha Gulati today directed the officials of the Police department to resolve all pending plaints within 15 days.Reviewing progress achieved in pending cases, the Chairperson accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori, Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagmohan Singh, and senior police officials of four districts including Jalandhar, SBS Nagar, Kapurthala, and Hoshiarpur, expressed her satisfaction over the efforts made by officials to resolve such pending complaints of women.Ms. Gulati stated that as many as 127 complaints were sent to the concerned district police authorities by the commission for necessary action including 46 to Jalandhar city, nine Jalandhar Rural, 54 Kapurthala, two SBS Nagar, and 16 complaints were sent to Hoshiarpur district. Similarly, about 1864 complaints were directly filed to these five police districts comprising 787 in Jalandhar city, 174 in Jalandhar Rural, 428 in Kapurthala, 285 in SBS Nagar, and 190 in Hoshiarpur, she added.The Chairperson further mentioned that the all four districts have demonstrated a positive response to these complaints by resolving many of them within stipulated time-frame; however, more efforts were required to take this pendency to zero. She asked the concerned officials to solve all the remaining cases within 15 days so that timely justice could be ensured to the victims.She exhorts women to directly approach the commission in case any kind of injustice happens to them and assured that the commission would make all out efforts to deliver the justice. She lauded the efforts of civil and police administration in achieving the goal of maximum disposal of complaints that too amid the unprecedented health crisis arising out of Covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, she met with some of the victims after the meeting and heard their grievances while directing the concerned officials to take necessary action at the earliest.
