DC visits PAP chowk to inspect site for construction of New ROB towards Amritsar from BSF Chowk

Underlines need to expedite process for getting approvals from Railways

Jalandhar : Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh has visited the site of PAP bridge, where a proposal is underway to construct a 3 lane Railway Over Bridge to ensure easy access towards Amritsar from local BSF Chowk side.

Accompanying the official of National Highways Authority of India, the Deputy Commissioner, while inspecting the site, said that improvement of PAP junction was being contemplated at high level in larger public interest to ease out the traffic congestion.

The officials of NHAI apprised the Deputy Commissioner that the six laning of Panipat-Jalandhar section of NH-1 was being initiated under which construction of service road, ROB construction, changing route of 132 KV transmission line falling on the site from right side would be done.

The Deputy Commissioner also directed the authorities concerned for regular liaison and coordination with the Railways so that after getting due approvals the work on this crucial stretch could be initiated.

Pointing out further, the Deputy Commissioner said that the new ROB will be constructed on the road leading to PAP from BSF chowk side to curb the traffic chaos being often faced by the commuters while travelling towards Amritsar and Ludhiana from NH-1.

It was also informed that the construction of new Jalandhar byepass had already been proposed and tenders were floated and the completion of this project would also ensure considerable reduction in routine traffic.
