Philanthropist Jasmine Sandhu Donates Rs 50,000 for Enhancing Green Cover to DC Randhawa and Session Judge Bajwa

A 12 Acre Mini Forest to Be Developed, says DFO, Nawanshahr

Nawanshahr : Showing grave concern on depleting green cover in the state, a Kapurthala based philanthropist Jasmine Sandhu today takes worth emulating initiative.

She donated Rs.50,000 to district administration through District and Sessions Judge Kanwaljit Singh Bajwa for enhancing green cover in memory of her father late Rupinder Singh Sandhu.

At a brief function held at Session Judge Meeting Hall, Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa while applauding the exemplary gesture of Mrs Jasmine Sandhu, said that it would go a long way in saving the environment . He also expressed thanks to the District and Sessions Judge Kanwaljit Singh Bajwa for motivating Jasmine Sandhu for contributing to the noble cause.

He said the money donated by the philanthropist would be utilised by the department of forest in such a manner so that it could inspire other environmentalists to invest in such projects.

District and Sessions Judge Kanwaljit Singh Bajwa while divulging details said when Jasmin Sandhu (his cousin) expressed her wish to contribute some money for the environment, he suggested her to choose SBS Nagar for this noble cause.

He said that more such environment lovers would be roped in to make this campaign a public movement to enhance the green cover for the sake of our coming generations.SSP Bhagirath Singh Meena who was also present there termed the gesture of Mrs Jasmine Sandhu a unique and adaptive to nature.

Divisional Forest Officer, Nawanshahr, Satinder Singh who recieved this environment donation, said that the contribution would be helpful for us as we have arranged a 12 Acre chunk of land on Garhshakar-Sri Anandpur Sahib road from a village panchayat to develop it as a Mini Forest.

He expressed thanks to the philanthropist Mrs Sandhu and District and Sessions Judge Bajwa for donating this money and giving assurance for more from her like minded persons for future need.On this occasion, a symbolic distribution of plants was also done to motivate others for planting saplings.

Judicial Officers Additional District and Sessions Judge Ms Manisha Jain, Secretary DLSA CJM Kamaldeep Singh Dhaliwal, CJM Jagbeer Singh Mehandiratta, Civil Judge (Senior Division) Ms Parminder Kaur and Additional Civil Judge Senior Division Ms Radhika Puri were also present there.Session Judge Mr Bajwa added that soon a planned plantation would be done at new Judicial Complex coming up near District Hospital.
