LPU’s fashion design students showcased their designer clothes at Delhi Fashion Week-2023

Jalandhar : Lovely Professional University’s (LPU’s) fashion design students showcased their designer clothes at the prestigious Delhi Fashion Week (DTFW)-2023, alongside top designers from India and abroad. The three-day event, held at The Grand, New Delhi, featured the latest trendsetting designs, and LPU’s students impressed the audience with their captivating collections.
The opening ramp show was a special highlight, and the LPU designers put in their best efforts to ensure an impressive first show. The students explored themes like sustainability and experimented with different techniques and weaves, earning accolades from the show’s attendees.
LPU’s Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal praised the students for presenting their ensembles at the event, which provided them with global exposure and hands-on experience.Fashion students of LPU regularly participate at renowned platforms like DTFW, where they can showcase their skills and talent.
This year, 22 LPU students participated in the event, alongside top designers and brands like Siddartha Tytler, Marks & Spencer, and Cantabil. The show also featured renowned Bollywood actors including Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Seal, who walked the ramp during the later phase of the event.
The DTFW proved to be a great platform for LPU students to interact with the branded names from the fashion fraternity. The students were specifically invited to present their sustainable designs at the event, and this was their third participation in the annual show. Later this year, they will participate in the Chandigarh Times Fashion Week for a full show in September 2023, marking a significant milestone for LPU’s budding fashion designers.
LPU has one of the best fashion design schools in India, nurturing the most creative students from around the world. The university works closely with renowned fashion houses and institutions in Italy, France, Greece, Spain, and other fashion-dominating countries.
Several industry linkages facilitate on-campus placements, allowing students to start their careers in challenging positions with leading national and international companies. LPU’s fashion students are also placed in Fortune 500 companies at packages of many lakhs.
The LPU designers showcased innovative collections based on various themes, including ‘Eye-conic Splendour’ inspired by the eyes of drag queens, ‘Glitch – the technical fault’ featuring texture and pattern minus perfection, ‘Alluring outburst’ to break monotony in men’s clothing, ‘Shakti – the modern goddess’ for young women who shun themselves from expressing true feminine nature, ‘Flicker flow’ having asymmetric lines and layers of fabrics for the feel of flow, ‘Hypnagogic Terrors’ inspired by the haunting phenomenon of sleep paralysis, ‘Rogue but Vogue’ inspired by post-pandemic rejuvenation, and ‘Revival of Being’ to demonstrate positive abstraction of various changes in our body.
