Lovely Professional University (LPU) successfully concludes its 13th Annual Athletic Meet

Jalandhar : Lovely Professional University organized its two-day 13th annual athletic meet. For this, a grand opening ceremony was organized at the campus, where students from various schools of the university participated.

Revealing sportsman spirit and enthusiasm, all of the participants tried hard to win the championship trophy and medals for their respective school and team cumulatively; and, for themselves individually.

Nearly, 100 track and field competitive sport-events were organised where onlooking students were amazed on seeing the Olympics level skills of their participating counterparts. For this, School of Physical Education lifted the meet’s overall trophy with maximum number of medal winnings in comparison to others; whereas, Mittal School of Business got Runner-Up trophy.

Representing their respective school and department, hundreds of students took part in the initial march past which was led by curious wheel-chaired participants. All of the students got much more energized after hearing about the wonderful performances and achievements of their fellow students even at the Olympics and various other international and national sports arenas.

LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal had declared the meet open by running with the sports’ torch and getting the cauldron lit at the playground for smoothness of the sports’ activities.

Dr Mittal was accompanied by Pro Chancellor Mrs Rashmi Mittal and other high ranks and staff members at the university. During the concluding day, Chancellor Dr Mittal honoured the winning schools and students.

Congratulating all winners and inspiring others, Dr Mittal revealed his expectation of more Olympic, international and national winnings from university’s sports persons. The opening and closing ceremonies also witnessed magnanimous cultural performances.

The event saw history-creation, records breaking and memories getting explicitly sweetened. Both male and female faculty and staff members also exhibited their enthusiasm for the sports and participated competitively in races for 50 Mts, 100 Mts, 4X100 relay; shot-put, high jump, long jump; javelin & discus throws; tug of war; fun games etc.
