Amritsar : Karnail Singh Peermohammad, Patron All India Sikh Students Federation has expressed his strong protest over the Rs 2 crore donation accepted by Manjinder Singh Sirsa for Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Covid care facility.Peermohammad has sharply criticized Manjinder Singh Sirsa, the president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) for accepting the amount from Amitabh Bachchans accusing him of playing a big role to ignite the 1984 Sikh genocide after the assassination of Indira Gandhi.Peermohammad even accused Sirsa of committing a sin and lowering the head of the whole Sikh community by accepting Rs 2 crore from Bachchan.“Sirsa has done an irreparable damage to his image as he had turned out to be a pioneer to extend all kinds of help to the people of Delhi on behalf of sikh community when covid-19 is raging in the state. He had also played an appreciable role to help the protesters against three contentious farm laws. Apart from blemising his own image, he has also hurt the feeling of the Sikh community as Bachchan’s had uttered a dialogue “Khun ka badla khun se layenge” (Blood for Blood) which was enough to burn Delhi in 1984,” said Peermohammad in a press statement to the media today.
He also questioned him whether he would also accept donations from other accused for sikh genocide like Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Taytler and Kamal Nath. If he does not like to accept donations from those accused, how has he accepted the Rs 2 crore donation from Bachchan? Peermohammad asked. He also criticized Sirsa for showcasing this donation in the media too.“There are thousands of donors who daily donate something or something else for the service of humanity through Gurdwaras. But Sirsa has never named them in any of his statements. Those who prefer to donate for not getting any limelight in the media are the better donors than Bachchan, who donates to earn headlines,” said Peermohammad.Peermohammad further said that there are some in the community who forget their past and sell conscience for petty and short term gains.Manjinder Singh Sirsa, who is also the national spokesperson for Akali Dal party, took to social media to announce that Amitabh Bachchan has donated Rs 2 crore to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Covid Care Facility. Sirsa wrote, “‘Sikhs are Legendary, Salute To Their Service’. These were the words of Amitabh Bachchan when he contributed Rs 2 crore to Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Covid Care Facility. But his donation has been widely criticised by the Sikh community who are of the opinion that Amitabh Bachchan’s utterances in 1984 were enough to polarise communities which led to the carnage of the Sikhs in Delhi.
