Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema hands over grant cheques worth Rs 8.27 crore to panchayats and youth clubs of Dirba constituency

No stone will be left unturned for the facelift of Dirba Constituency: Cabinet Minister Cheema

Dirba/Sangrur : Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema today distributed grants cheques of Rs 8 crore 27 lakh 24 thousand grants to panchayats and youth clubs for various development works in a public meeting held at the local Atwal Palace. While speaking on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has continuously been making efforts to attain status of ‘Rangla Punjab’ for the state once again.
He said that due to the ignorance of the previous governments, Dirba was one of the backward assembly constituencies of Punjab in terms of development but now, no stone will be left unturned for its holistic development. The cabinet minister said that as per the guarantees given by the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, it will be ensured that health, education and other basic facilities should be improved and brought within the reach of the common people.
He said that in the grants distributed today, a large amount of money was given to improve the infrastructure of schools, to raise the standard of health facilities and to ensure cleanliness in villages. He said that in the future too, there will be no shortage required grants to raise the standard of basic facilities in Dirba constituency.
Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said that the implementation of grants worth crores of rupees will be ensured in a transparent manner at the ground level and corruption of even single rupee will not be tolerated. He appealed to the representatives of the village panchayats and the common people that the money released by the government was their own money and they should personally ensure its proper utilisation.
He said that if any person or government official or employee tries to commit any kind of corruption, then the matter should be immediately reported to him so that strict action should be taken against the person concerned.
On this occasion, Chairman District Planning Committee Chairman Gurmail Singh Gharachon, Chairman Improvement Trust Sangrur Harpreet Singh Peetu, SDM Dirba Rajesh Sharma, OSD of Cabinet Minister Tapinder Singh Sohi, DSP Prithvi Singh Chahal apart from a large number of representatives of panchayats and other dignitaries were also present.
