Expert panel soon to boost sports in state : Pargat Singh

Jalandhar : Sports Minister Punjab Pargat Singh today said that in order to promote the sports in a big way the state government will constitute an expert panel with members from all prominent games.The Minister who was here during the final match of Jalandhar Heights Premier league, said that this expert will have renowned sportsperson from all prominent games as members. He said that besides giving vital inputs on sporting activity this expert panel will also act as a catalyst for grooming the players for national and international events. Mr Pargat Singh said that the entire aim is to emerge Punjab as a hub of the sports across the country.The Minister said that government has constituted this group so that benefit can be taken from their vast experience and expertise in field of sports. He further said that in a paradigm shift instead of constructing big stadiums major thrust is being laid on establishing state of art coaching centers in small towns. Mr Pargat Singh further said that the government is in process of formulating a policy wherein the services of the players recruited under Sports quota will be taken by the department.

The Minister said that the sports department has set a target of associating five lakh youth of the state under sports. Mr. Pargat Singh said that for creating an atmosphere of sports in the state corporate firms, private companies and NRIs will be roped in. Mr Pargat Singh called upon players, youth clubs and other stakeholders to join hands for creating an atmosphere of sports in the state.Meanwhile, the President of NGO Warriors groups Mr Varun Kohli informed that this tournament was organised annually by them. He said that this year four teams have participated in the tournament organised on league basis. Mr Kohli also thanked Mr Sukhdev Singh from AGI infra for providing requisite logistic help to the NGO for smooth conduct of the event.On the occasion students trained from Vivek Aggarwal Films Acting Institute gave a scintillating performance.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included Commandant ISTC Kapurthala Mr Sandeep Sharma, Swimming Coach Mr Umesh Sharma and Registrar NIT Mr SK Mishra.Earlier, organising committee of Warrior groups led by Mr Varun Kohli, Mr Rajinder Raja, Mr SK Mishra, Mr Ankur Dhuria, Mr Nitin Puri, Mr Davinder Saini, Mr Anudeep Bajaj, Mr Vikas Sharma, Mr Ankur Sehgal , Mr Sanjeev Ahuja, Mr Kamal Sehgal, Mr Manpreet Gaba, Mr Shamil Menon, Mr Sanjeev Arora, Mr Bobby Ratan, Mr Vishal Gumber, Colonel (Retd) Ajay Tikar, Mr Tejinder Singh Dimpy, Mr Vivek Samba and others welcomed the dignitaries on the occasion.
