Sangrur : On the occasion of 75th Independence Day, School Education and Public Works Minister Vijay Inder Singla unfurled the National Flag at Police Line Stadium Sangrur. While presiding over the function as Chief Guest, Vijay Inder Singla said that we feel proud that the sacrifices of Punjabis in the freedom struggle of the country were the highest. Before unfurling the National Flag, Vijay Inder Singla paid homage to the martyrs by placing a wreath at the memorial located in the Police Line.Sharing his message to the people of Sangrur, the Cabinet Minister Mr. Singla elaborated on the work being done by the Punjab Government for the overall development of the state. He said that with the vision of Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh and the efforts of the state government, Punjab has become a leader in the field of school education across the country. He said improvement in the infrastructure and management of government schools has ensured increase in the enrolments of students in government schools and the results of examinations have been improved. Mr. Vijay Inder Singla expressed his gratitude to officers and staff of various departments working during Covid for discharging their duties for the service of humanity. Mr. Vijay Inder Singla said that Punjab is the premier state in agriculture sector and the Captain government has passed a resolution against the three agriculture laws of the Modi government and then passed necessary bills in Vidhan Sabha to make them ineffective in the state. He said that apart from increasing benefits of pensions being provided by the Punjab government under social security, the shagun amount being given under the Ashirwad scheme for marriage of daughters of needy families has also been increased. He said that the benefits of welfare schemes to the needy and all development works were being done in a transparent manner without any discrimination.

The PWD Minister said that apart from constructing 27 railway over bridges, 4-lane roads, National Highways and all other roads have been repaired and upgraded in the state.Mr. Vijay Inder Singla also spoke about the efforts being made by the Punjab Government for the transformation of Sangrur constituency. He said that the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital at Sangrur was a beacon of hope for the cancer patients where about 95% of the patients were being provided high quality treatment free of cost. He said that an amount of Rs.10 crore has been spent at War Heroes Stadium for the purpose of encouraging the youth towards sports in which athletics, swimming pool, indoor sports complex have been constructed.Mr. Singla said that Sangrur would be made a model constituency in terms of development. He said that Sangrur was a heritage city and crores of rupees were being invested to preserve its heritage look. He said that special efforts had been made to preserve the heritage look of Raj High School, Sangrur and now heritage gates were being constructed in the city.During the function, Cabinet Minister Mr. Singla distributed sewing machines, wheelchairs and tricycles to the needy.
