Dr. Charnjit Singh Pruthi assumed the office of President of the Punjab Medical Council

Chandigarh : Distinguished cardiologist of northern India, Dr. Charnjit Singh Pruthi, took over as the President of the Punjab Medical Council in a simple but impressive ceremony.After assuming the office at the Punjab Medical Education and Research Bhawan, Dr. Pruthi thanked the Chief Minister Punjab Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi and Medical Education and Research Minister Dr. Raj Kumar Verka for providing this new opportunity. He said that he will use the experience gained in the medical field to improve the working of the Medical Council and will carry out this new responsibility with a spirit of honesty and dedication. He said that he was keen to maintain high standards in the medical field and he will continue to work towards this end. He said that every effort will be made to fulfill this new responsibility, given by the Punjab government.It may be recalled that Dr. Pruthi born on December 2, 1953 in Jagraon (Ludhiana), obtained MBBS degree in 1977 and M.D. (Medicine) degree in 1983 from Government Medical College, Amritsar. He also received a Fellowship in Cardiology.

After study, Dr. Pruthi has served in various medical institutions. He has participated in many national and international conferences. In 1995, he has started northern India’s first open heart surgery center under the name of BBC Heart Care Pruthi Hospital Jalandhar. He is its Chairman cum Director. He is also chairman of Capitol Hospital Jalandhar.Apart from senior officers of Medical Education and Research Department, national vice president of IMA Dr. Navjot Dahiya, Dr. Avnish Kumar, DRME Punjab, other PMC members including Dr. Girish Sahni, Vice-President, Dr. Manoj Kumar Sobti, Dr. Jasmine Kaur, Dr. Surinder Pal Singh, Dr. Vijay Kumar, Dr. Karamvir Goyal, Dr. Amarbir Singh, Dr. Pritpal Singh, Dr. Bhagwant Singh, Dr. Ashok Uppal, Dr. Akash Deep Aggarwal, Registrar, Sh. Virender Sood, OSD were also present on this occasion.Family and friends including Dr Aneja (renowned skin specialist ) , Dr Harnoor Pruthi (cardiologist and Director Capitol Hospital ) , Sh GS Syal (CA and trustee Ajit Samachar) Sh Jatinder Paul Pruthi (Chairman Galaxy Autozone ) Mr Dhindsa and Mr Karan Lally accompanied the President.
