Asks officials to adopt a multi-pronged strategy to tackle the second wave efficiently

 Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today said that the district administration would work on increasing beds capacity across Covid care centers and developing some make-shift facilities to tackle the second wave efficiently.After participating in a virtual Covid review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Deputy Commissioner stated that

Jalandhar : Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today said that the district administration would work on increasing beds capacity across Covid care centers and developing some make-shift facilities to tackle the second wave efficiently.After participating in a virtual Covid review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Deputy Commissioner stated that all the directions issued by the worthy CM during the review meeting would be followed scrupulously. He stated that in the coming days the thrust would be laid upon increasing beds capacity and setting up some temporary Covid care facilities to be able to deal with the rising caseload.The deputy commissioner mentioned that as of now a total of 451 level-III beds were arranged in the hospitals of which 382 were occupied and only 69 beds were available currently, which indicated 84.70 percent of the total beds were already occupied in the hospitals.

He further added that around 610 beds in level-II categories were available in the Covid care institutions and efforts were being made to upgrade these beds into level-III.Mr. Thori also apprised the high-ups of the measures being taken up by the district administration to ensure sufficient oxygen supply to the hospitals, which includes rationing of utilization, oxygen audits, and constant monitoring on supply, demand, and consumption in the district. He directed all the concerned officials to adopt a multi-pronged strategy ranging from boosting testing & vaccination to strict enforcement of curbs and ramping up infrastructure to keep virus spread under check.Prominent among others present on the occasion included SSP Dr. Sandeep Garg, ADC (Development) Vishesh Sarangal, ADC (General) Jasbir Singh, SDM Dr. Jai Inder Singh, and Assistant Commissioner Hardeep Singh.
