Bathinda : The Vice Chancellor of Central University of Punjab Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari released a book on “Drug Discovery and Development – From Targets and Molecules to Medicines”. The book is published by Springer Nature Singapore Private. Ltd. and edited by Professor P. Rama Rao, Former Dean Academic Affairs and Professor at the Dept. of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda.Vice Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari congratulated Prof. P. Ramarao for editing valuable books in the discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He mentioned that the university is committed to actualize our mission of generating new knowledge and setting higher benchmarks in education & research.While sharing the details about the book, Prof. P. Ramarao, stated that the book titled ‘Drug Discovery and Development – From Targets and Molecules to Medicines’ is an attempt to simplify the complex process of development of new drugs by putting a light on various phases of Drug Discovery and Development. He added, this book is an outcome of collaborative efforts of multidisciplinary experts from academia, industry, and regulatory authorities. It features eighteen chapters on the basic & applied aspects of the process for discovering, developing testing, and regulating new drugs. He emphasized that this book would enable research scholars, professionals, and young scientists to understand the key fundamentals of drug discovery, including stereochemistry, pharmacokinetics, clinical trials, statistics, and toxicology.Prof. Raj Kumar, HoD, Dept. of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Natural Products, who has authored one of the chapters in this book shared that the book will be useful for both entry-level research scholars and professionals who are engaged in the complex process of Drug Discovery and Development.
