Hoshiarpur : Dedicating 148 smart schools to district people in a virtual event here today Industry & Commerce Minister Sunder Sham Arora said that with concerted efforts of the state government the government schools have witnessed an increase of 14 percent in admissions across the state.After inauguration of Smart Schools at state level by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh besides marking the culmination of Punjabi Week through a virtual event at Chandigarh, the Industries Minister went to Government Senior Secondary School Piplanwala for inauguration.Arora while presiding over the district-level event here started the distribution of 150 tablets for 21 government primary schools with symbolic distribution to five teachers. He said that these e-content equipped tablets would be of great help for teachers and students of primary wing especially in this age of digital education.  He further mentioned that the district Hoshiarpur was one of the major beneficiary districts in this scheme as a total of 18 schools were selected for distribution of seven tablets in each school and three schools for eight tablets each.The Minister said that a total of 148 government schools had been convertwd into smart schools by providing modern facilities there besides installing LED screens in almost every school of Hoshiarpur. He said that these steps would further ensure the goal to achieve the 100 percent result in board classes during the academic year 2020-21. He further added that about seven thousand schools in the state have been transformed into smart schools with the expenditure of Rs. 690 Crore by the state government besides the contribution of NRIs, NGOs, teachers, and villages of Rs. 37 Crore.
Meanwhile, state awardee teacher Dr. Jaswant Singh also expressed his views over the massive transformation being done in schools education reforms  at state level virtual event and expressed his gratitude towards the Punjab government for according topmost priority to education sector. He also lauded the efforts of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh for making Punjab a progressive state in the field of education.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion include Chairman Punjab State Commission for Backward Classes Sarwan Singh, Deputy Commissioner Apneet Riyat, Chairman Punjab Industrial Development Board Rakesh Marwaha, DEO Sanjeev Gautam, Dhiraj Vashist, and Sukhwinder Singh.MLA Chabbewal Got Smart School Inaugurated From Girl Students At Ahrana Kalan. In a similar event at village Ahrana Kalan, MLA Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal got the Givernment Senior Secondary smart School inaugurated by girls Amandeep Kaur and Harjit Kaur, who had secured top position in matriculation exams last year. The MLA while handing over three tablets each to Kahri and Khanpur clusters said that with a grant of worth Rs. 45.60 Lakh six new classrooms were being built in this school along with a science lab at a cost of Rs. 6.70 Lakhs. He further mentioned that to promote digital literacy five projectors were provided to the school.Village sarpanch Major Singh Thiara,Sarpanch Ahrana Khurd Rekha Rani, School Principal Bharat Bhushan, Chairman SMC Ram Lubhaya and teachers of schools.
