The people of the country will never forget his sacrifice. “Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has specially sent him to attend the function”, he said, adding that the amount of Rs.12 lakh given earlier by the Punjab government has been enhanced to Rs.50 lakh to honor those families whose members sacrificed their life for the country and the state.
The Cabinet Minister said that in this hour of grief, the state government and district administration stood firm with the family of the martyr. The wife of the martyr was given an immediate financial assistance of Rs.25,000 on funeral day, while today a check of Rs.5 lakh was being given to his wife Namdeep Kaur. He assured, the state government would soon provide government job and other financial assistance to the bereaved family.He announced that government school and road leading to the village would be named after Shaheed Lakhveer Singh.MLA Darshan Brar also assured the family that the state Government would extend all possible help to them. MP Mohammad Sadiq has termed the martyrdom of Lakhveer Singh as the greatest sacrifice, which would never be forgotten. He assured that he would do his best to meet all the demands of the village.Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Hans said that the needs of the family and villagers of the martyr would be addressed on priority. The function was also addressed by Colonel Dalwinder Singh and others. Jathedar Tirath Singh Mahla honored the family on behalf of Shiromani Gurdwara Management Committee. Senior Congress leaders included Jagroop Singh Takhtupura, Chairman Parampal Singh Takhtupura and others were present on the occasion.
