Civil surgeon appeals to avail benefits of ‘Mukh Mantri Punjab Motia Mukt” campaign

44 cataract operations performed, 3067 persons screened in government health facilities

S.A.S. Nagar : Civil surgeon appealed to district residents to take full benefit ofbMukh Mantri Punjab Motia Mukt campaign.Under the ‘Mukh Mantri Punjab Motia Mukt Abhiyan” a total of 44 patients suffering from cataract have been operated upon and 3067 people have been screened by eye specialists in government health facilities across the district since November 26 till date. Disclosing this here today, the Civil Surgeon Dr Adarshpal Kaur said that with a view to ensure better healthcare facilities to the people of the state, it was directed by the Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi to launch ‘Mukh Mantri Punjab Motia Mukt Abhiyan’ which commenced from November 26 all across the state.She informed that so far 25 operations have been performed at District Hospital Mohali, 10 operations at Sub-divisional hospital in Dera Bassi and 9 operations at Sub-divisional hospital in Kharar.

In addition, 18 patients of cataract have been operated upon in J.P. hospital in collaboration with an NGO. She said that to make this campaign complete success private hospitals have also been made part of this drive, which would continue till December 31.Notably, eye camps are being organized in the district as part of the drive, wherein the eye sight of the people is being thoroughly examined and those found suffering with cataract are being operated upon after a period of 15 days free of cost. “The transportation facility including pick up and drop back is also being provided to the people along with the refreshments for the people undergoing operations”, said the officer, adding that free spectacles are also to be provided to those operated upon. At least one camp will be held in each Tehsil in the month of December.
