Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights concludes ” Toy Festival”

Chandigarh : Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights concluded Toy Festival through creation of toy banks and organizing rural games in Government Schools. The initiative is aimed at enhancing children’s knowledge on cultural heritage as well as learning skills like maths, hand-eye coordination, sensory development, etc.CCPCR has also started the workshop to train the children for traditional games in two (2) Government schools of Chandigarh i.e. GMHS-40 and GMSSS Khuda Ali Sher w.e.f. 09th February 2021 as a pilot project. The details will be documented and the feedback of the children will be undertaken to enhance the effectiveness of the traditional rural games. Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights has also undertaken a research ” Play based learning: A comparative study on role of traditional toys and smart toys in meta cognition learning and language development in children”. The first five sets of traditional toys were donated by Mrs. Nisha Bhargwa, Principal, Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Sector 36, Chandigarh along with her team to Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights. In his address, PM Shri Narendra Modi on Virtual Toy Fair said, “Our relation with toys is as old as the civilization itself. and our temples stand testimony to the rich culture of toy making in India,”. He also said, “Our temples stand testimony to the rich culture of toy making in India.”On the occasion, Ms. Harjinder Kaur said, ” There is an inherent need for us to introduce our future generations with tangible cultural heritage i.e. traditional games and toys. It seeks to encourage and enable tomorrow’s decision-makers to participate in heritage conservation and will foster a overall growth and development”. On this occasion, Sh. Kartar Singh, Legal Consultant, Sh. Chanchal Singh, RTE Consultant, Ms. Niti Mohan, Empaneled Consultant and Dr. Minakshi Rana were present.
