CGC Landran commences celebrations to mark India’s 75th Independence Day

Landran : The CGC Landran campus was immersed in patriotic fervour as the students and faculty of the institution kicked off celebrations as a run up to the 75th Independence Day being marked as Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, across the country. Today’s event was graced by the presence of Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran, who inspected the parade by the institution’s NCC cadets thereafter hoisting the tricolour and addressing the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion he said, “It is a matter of immense pride for us to be a part of the ongoing celebration of our 75th Independence Day. India is our motherland having given us our identity, and making us who we are. We must always remember the sacrifices of our brave martyrs whose struggles paved way for us to enjoy freedom today.

This occasion should also remind us to hold our nation and culture in the highest regard, wherever we might be in the world.”Post this ceremony, the students and faculty collectively took the oath to uphold the unity of the nation as also to fight the menace of drug addiction. Putting up a scintillating show of talent, zeal and love for their motherland CGC students gave energy infused performances in dance, fusion dance, solo song and band performances.

Rousing, patriotic speeches eulogising the sacrifices of the nation’s forefathers and invoking Indians especially the young adults to strive for excellence, given by CGC students in declamation competition added to the spirit of the occasion. The highlight of today’s celebrations was the creation of the figure 75 by CGC students in saffron white and green colours of our tricolour.

Additionally, a plethora of competitions to celebrate the occasion have been underway at the institution. These include Collage making, Slogan writing, Face painting, Rangoli making, Solo singing, Cooking and Ethnic wear competitions among others. The winners of these competitions were also felicitated in today’s event.

Aditi Swarup, (B.Pharmacy) won the 1st prize in Ethnic Wear Competitions, Manish & Madhav B.Tech CSE won the Rangoli competition, Karan Gupta, B.Pharmacy, won the first position in collage making, Manish Kumar B.Tech CSE won the Slogan writing completion while Archana, B.Com won the top honours in face painitng competition while the team of Swati, Rupali, Prabhleen (MSc Biotechnology) took the top honours in Cooking competition under the theme tricolour fireless cooking. Lakshaya Shrivastav., B.Tech ECE was the first prize winner in solo singing competition.
