Inaugurates Three-Day Long Youth Festival At Sant Baba Bhag Singh University

Jalandhar : Punjab Higher Education, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer today underscored the need for channelizing the unbounded energy of youth in a positive direction to make them partners in the socio-economic growth of the country and the state.

Addressing the gathering while inaugurating Youth Festival here at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Village Khiala, the minister said that the hardworking Punjabi youth were known across the globe for their enterprising skill, resilience and acumen since long.

Accompanied by Sant Baba Sarwan Singh, Vice Chancellor Dharmjit Singh, MLA Dr. Ravjot Singh, Deputy Commissioner Jaspreet Singh, Mr. Hayer said that Punjabi youth have made enormous contribution towards the socio economic development not only in their state, country but also globally.

He further stated that the abundant energy of the youth need to be harnessed for betterment of the country, for which such youth festivals could play an important role. Meanwhile, he shared his personal experience about participating in youth festivals during college days stressing that such participation boost confidence in youngsters which subsequently help them emerge as leaders of the society.

He urged the youngsters to must participate in youth festivals so as to identify their hidden talent in the field of arts, music, dance, and at national and international arena. He said that art and culture play a significant role in the overall development of one’s personality and thus Youth festivals could offer a healthy platform to youngsters in exhibiting their rare talent.

The Minister also hailed the efforts of Sant Baba Bhag Singh University in providing quality and affordable education to rural students and extended fulsome support from the state government in its future endeavour. He also laid emphasis on the need for skill-oriented courses to meet the market demands so that our youth can get ample employment opportunities.

Welcoming the Chief Guest and other dignitaries, Vice Chancellor Dharamjit Singh Parmar gave a brief introduction about the activities of the university which was founded by Sant Baba Malkit Singh Ji back in year 2015 and set new benchmarks under the leadership of second Chancellor Sant Baba Dlawar Singh Ji.

He said that the rich educational legacy is now being carry forward by present Chancellor Sant Baba Sarwan Singh ji. The VC further mentioned that over 4000 students would participate in nearly 80 different activities during the youth festival.
