AAP gets a shot in the arm with induction of sitting Congress MCs ahead of local bodies poll

Jalandhar Deputy Mayor Harsimranjit Singh Bunty and Mandi Board Director Baljit Singh Poopi among sitting Congress MCs joined the party today

Jalandhar/Chandigarh : Ahead of local bodies elections scheduled for December this year, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gets a shot in the arm with the induction of many sitting Municipal Councilors of Congress party and influential people in the party on Monday as they are impressed with the dynamic functioning of the Mann government in Punjab.

The party got a major boost when Congress’ Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Harsimranjit Singh Bunty and Punjab Mandi Board Director Baljit Singh Poopi joined the Aam Aadmi Party. Both the leaders were inducted into the party by AAP’s Punjab in-charge Jarnail Singh and General Secretary Harchand Singh Barsat.

Apart from them, three councilors of Congress party from Jalandhar Municipal Corporation Rohan Sehgal, Mintu Gujjar and Rajinder Kumar Mintoo also joined the AAP at Chandigarh party headquarters. Another influential person from Jalandhar, Amarjit Singh Chhabra also joined AAP.

Addressing the media on this occasion, Jarnail Singh said that the people of the whole country including Punjab are greatly impressed with the working of AAP in Delhi and Punjab. People have high hopes from AAP. He said that the AAP would register a unilateral victory in the municipal elections as in the assembly elections.

Likewise, the leaders who joined the party said that they decided to join AAP after being impressed with the extraordinary functioning of AAP and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann aiming to make the state again as Rangla Punjab.“We will staunchly work for betterment of Punjab as per the responsibility assigned to us by the AAP party,” they said.
