Manish Sisodia releases list of 250 Delhi’s government schools upto class 12, challenges Pargat Singh to release the same of Punjab

Chandigarh/Delhi : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national leader, Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister, Manish Sisodia on Sunday released a list of Delhi’s 250 government schools upto class 12, as part of the challenge posed to Punjab Education Minister Pargat Singh; to compare the condition and entire education system of the Punjab and Delhi government schools; further seeking a list of such schools from the Punjab government. Addressing the media on Sunday, Manish Sisodia released the list of 250 government schools of Delhi which have improved in the field of education reforms, infrastructure, training and results.He said that it was a matter of great happiness that now education was becoming an issue in the politics of the country, especially in electoral politics. “In the last 5 years, the work that has been done in the government schools in the field of education in Delhi; it has forced other parties to talk about it,” said Sisodia. He said that recently Arvind Kejriwal had made several announcements for teachers in Punjab and in regard to this; the Congress claimed that they had done a lot of work in the field of education and that no work was done in Delhi.To this, we (AAP) challenged them (Congress) for an open debate on the work being done in Punjab in the last five years and in Delhi, respectively.

However, the Punjab’s Education Minister said that he would like to review 250 schools and not 10-12 schools. For this, we have released a list of 250 government schools of Delhi, said Manish Sisodia. “A lot of work has been done in all the schools of Delhi. Work has been done on education reform; on building and infrastructure, on training of the teachers in government schools and on the results there,” he added.Sharing the achievements, Manish Sisodia said that students from the government schools in Delhi have gone to IITs and JEE. There are thousands and more such schools with excellent results and we can talk about any 250, he said. “But as Punjab Education Minister Pargat Singh asked for 250 schools, I have given a list of 250 such schools of the Delhi government; which have gone through a lot of improvement in the last 5 years. All these schools are schools up to class XII. Infrastructure and results have improved in all these schools. The results have been improved from 80 percent to 100 percent. The teachers have been trained in the country and abroad with children competing at the international level,” said Sisodia.He further said that there are also such schools in which 50-50 students have qualified in the NEET exam. “This year around 500 children have qualified NEET who were studying in government schools in class XII and about as many have cleared JEE Mains. Around 70 children have cleared JEE Advanced which means they are getting direct admission in IITs. For the last four years, the government schools in Delhi have outperformed private schools in results,” said Sisodia.
Requesting Punjab Education Minister Pargat Singh to release the list of government schools of Punjab, Manish Sisodia said, “With a lot of humility and respect, I would like to request Pargat Singh that as I have released the list of 250 schools on his request, he should also release the list of 250 schools up to class 12 of Punjab, on which their government has worked on improvement in the last five years.” He asked Pargat Singh to visit these schools along with the media for an open debate about what has changed. “We will go to these schools, whether in Punjab or Delhi first; and discuss what reforms have been brought in education quality, what has improved in the new curriculum and results, in teachers’ training, infrastructure facilities and about students appearing in NEET or JEE,” he added.“I hope that by this evening the list of 250 government schools of Punjab which are up to class XII, will be released by their education minister on behalf of the Punjab government,” said Sisodia. He said that the people of Punjab should see through the media and decide whether Delhi’s education model is better or the so-called work being done by the Congress. “The people of Punjab should see which government has actually worked on education and which one is only bluffing,” he added.
