Chandigarh : With the announcement of elections, the Punjab Congress has suffered a major setback. Joginder Singh Mann, a senior Dalit leader, Former Minister and three-time MLA in the Congress, left the Congress and joined the Aam Aadmi Party. On Saturday, Mann joined AAP in the presence of AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal.Joginder Singh Mann has been MLA for three times from Phagwara Assembly constituency and was a Minister in the Congress during Beant Singh government. He is known as the biggest Dalit of Punjab. Mann is the nephew of Buta Singh, a senior Congress leader and former Union Minister.
After joining the Aam Aadmi Party, Joginder Singh Mann said that it was his wish that his body to be wrapped in the Congress flag after his death, but the Congress has become a party of rich and opportunistic people. There is no place in Congress for the poor and common people. The Congress has completely strayed from its ideals and principles. The Congress government is also completely failing to protect the interests of Dalit children. The scholarship scam for Dalit students was not properly investigated and no one was punished. Therefore, our conscience no longer allows us to remain in the Congress.
