New Delhi : Senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on Thursday met the party’s national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his office residence and discussed in detail the contentious central farm laws and their far-reaching implications in the long run.The meeting was attended by, among others, State President and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann, Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, In charge, Punjab Affairs Jarnail Singh (MLA), State Youth Wing President and MLA Meet Hayer, MLA Aman Arora and State Kisan Wing President and MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan. As per the information released from the party headquarters here on Thursday, Arvind Kejriwal asked the entire Punjab leadership of the party to stand rock solid behind the struggling farmers of Punjab and buy justice for them.
Arvind Kejriwal on the occasion said that what the farmers of Punjab at this point in time needed was a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) on all crops. He said “It is immaterial who pays the MSP on their crops. What they all need is the legal guarantee of purchase of their produce at MSP fixed by the Centre.” Kejriwal said that if the Modi government at the Center dragged its feet on guaranteeing the MSP, the Capt. Amarinder Singh government should hold their hands and enact law to bring the MSP regime under legal ambit.Arvind Kejriwal said that Aam Aadmi Party would fight till the last for the rights of the farmers ensuring them a legal guarantee for the procurement of their crops at the MSP.On the occasion Arvind Kejriwal asked the AAP leadership of Punjab to launch a massive campaign all over the state, stressing the need for legal guarantee of MSP to the farmers, saying that the party would go to any extent to fight for their rights.
