Chandigarh : Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs on Friday staged a ‘dharna’ outside the Punjab Assembly, demanding that Chief Minister Amarinder Singh should immediately convene an all-party meeting, in which representatives farmers’ organizations, farm experts and other stake holders should be invited, saying the special Vidhan Sabha session be convened before October 15 so that the farmers, and other all sections could be saved from ruining.Led by Deputy Leader of Opposition Bibi Sarabjit Kaur Manuke, the ‘dharna’ was addressed by among others, Prof Baljinder Kaur, Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Master Baldev Singh (all MLAs). Others present on the occasion were party leaders Raj Lali Gill and Govinder Mittal.Addressing the ‘dharna’ Bibi Sarabjit Kaur Manuke said that Raja Amarinder Singh had played a pivotal role in clearing the passage for the three anti-farmers Agriculture Ordinances brought in by the Modi-led Government at the Center, which was aimed at ruining the farming fraternity and their age-old, besides demolishing the federal structure of the country. She accused him of misleading the gullible people of Punjab, especially the farmers, by holding pseudo rallies, saying that he (Amarinder Singh) should bear in mind that they would no longer fall to his political maneuvers.
She added that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had been opposing the well thought-out design of the anti-people governments at the centre, saying that it would continue to oppose the anti-farmer laws till they were scrapped. The AAP MLAs said addressing the people of Punjab “You have given us the responsibility to raise and address your issues and concerns in the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. So keeping that in mind we have been on our toes to perform the assigned duty to the best of your satisfaction. We know the farmers, farm laborers, book-keepers, ‘arhtiyas’, transporters, small shopkeepers etc are fighting a big battle for survival. We staged a ‘dharna’ demanding the state government to convene a special Vidhan Sabha session, before October 15, so that their issues and concerned could be discussed threadbare and taken to a conclusive end”The AAP leaders said that the Raja Amarinder Singh-Badal-Modi, under a deep conspiracy, were trying to mislead the farmers and other sections of society to derail the ongoing farmers’ struggle across the state, asserting that the AAP would not allow the detractors to have their way as its untiring leadership, volunteers, in tandem with the farmers bodies, were holding public rallies across the state to uncover the anti-people face of the Raja-Badal-Modi trio playing dirty politics to hoodwink people.
