Doda Admin, JPDCL, NHPC organise Bijli Mahotsav at Community Hall Doda

Doda : As a part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the Ministry of Power in association with District Administration, NHPC & JPDCL on Tuesday organized a function here at Community Hall Doda in connection with ‘Bijli Mahotsav’.The Bijli Mahotsav programmes are being used as a platform to celebrate the collaboration between the state and the Centre Governments and to highlight the key achievements in the power sector.

Some of the key highlights in the sector as informed during the programme have been addition of 169 GW power generation capacity which transformed the India from power deficit to power surplus country; adding of 1.6 lakh CKM transmission lines, which connected entire country into one grid running on one frequency and making it as the largest integrated grid in the world; achieving 100% village electrification (18,374) and 100% household electrification (2.86 Cr); with Rs 2.02 Lakh Cr outlay for system strengthening, duration of power supply in rural areas increased from 12 hours in 2015 to average 22.5 hours at present; India becoming a country with Fastest growing Renewable Energy (RE) which has doubled from ~76 GW in 2014 to ~160 GW at present; achieving 40% RE Generation capacity in the country in 2021 thus attaining 4th position globally.

The Bijli Mahotsav is being celebrated all over the country under the umbrella of Ujjwal Bharat Ujjwal Bhavishya – Power @2047 for more public participation and getting across the developments in the power sector to the citizens at large.Dhananter Singh Kotwal, Chairman District Development Council Doda inaugurated the Bijli Mahotsav by lighting the ceremonial lamp in presence Sangeeta Rani Bhagat VC DDC; BDC Chairpersons, DDC Councillors, ADC, General Manager (Electrical) NHPC Kishtwar, Senior Manager NHPC (HR), functionaries of JPDCL and public representatives were also present.During the Mahotsav, the speakers highlighted the benefits of electricity and the unprecedented growth achieved by India in the power sector over the past few years.

A variety cultural programme, Nukkad nataks and screening of short films on power sector were other attractions of the event. The event also witnessed several beneficiaries sharing their experiences.Speaking on the occasion, Dhananter Singh Kotwal said that the government was doing remarkable work in the field of power generation. “The local administration is implementing range of schemes and the public is getting benefited from the same”. He urged upon the public to install smart meters, use the electricity judiciously and Cooperate with the electricity department to have uninterrupted power supply.Dr. R K Bharti, ADC Doda also expressed his view on this occasion.The SE JPDCL Circle gave a detailed information about the programs being run for the public.
