Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav : Eat Right Walkathon, Eat Right Mela held in Ramban

Ramban : The Food Safety, Drugs & Food Control organization, Ramban, in collaboration with district administration and FSSAI, Delhi, today organized “Eat Right Walkathon” and ‘Eat Right Mela” in Ramban under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam and President Municipal Council, Ramban, Sunita Sumbria jointly inaugurated the Eat Right Mela after flagging off “Eat Right Walkathon from Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramban.

ADDC, Rajinder Sharma, CEO Devanand, CMO Kamal Zadoo, were the Guest of Honour of the mega event attended by Councillors of MC Ramban, CAO, Awani Sharma, AMO, Sunil Baki, Principle of the host school, Kewal Sharma, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Farid Ahmed Beig, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Doda, Tariq Ahmed Butt, officers of Department of Food Safety, Ramban and Banihal besides students from different schools of the district participated in the function.

The Deputy Commissioner along with other dignitaries inspected the stalls set up by the different departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, ICDS, Horticulture(M&P), FBOs from Beopar Mandal, Patanjali, Beverage Associations who showcased their products to inculcate the habits of safe & healthy eating among the consumers.
In his address, the Chief Guest said such programmes are envisioned as massive outreach to the citizens to create & build awareness on safe & healthy diets through an interactive and informative model.

He complimented the efforts of the Department of Food safety, Ramban & tireless efforts of the organizers & underlined the need for holding such workshops and camps at Tehsil level to generate more awareness about the” Eat Right, Eat Healthy & Eat Fortified”.

He further impressed upon the department to double the efforts in ensuring safe & wholesome food to the Consumers.The President MC and other speakers also highlighted the adverse impact of adulterated & unsafe food on human health and said that a graph of non-communicable diseases can be brought down if a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise and healthy eating habits are adopted.

While addressing the participants, the ADDC urged upon the participants to adopt healthy food habits and avoid junk food habits as much as possible to avoid nutritional deficiency diseases.

People from all walks of life, including Food business operators, employees, students and citizens participated in this program with zest and zeal besides witnessing Yoga session and painting competition, and cultural performances like folk dances in Kamiri, Dogri, Gojari, and local languages.

Earlier, the Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Ramban, Farid Ahmad Beig, in his address highlighted the achievements of the Department and enjoined upon the Food Business operators, especially Hoteliers, and Restaurant owners to adopt hygienic practice and undergo hygiene ratings and FOSTAC training so that clean and safe food is made available to the consumers.Later, the DC also facilitated the winners and participants of the Painting Competition, Cultural Programmes, and Yoga session
