Shoppers throng kashmir Markets ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, will be Celebrate on Tuesday

Srinagar (Mudasir Maqbool) : After two year’s of hiatus a heavy rush of shoppers ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr was witnessed across kashmir as well as in South Kashmir’s Pulwama town on Sunday.The locals as well as people from other parts of South Kashmir include Shopian and Anantnag thronged shops and stalls in the markets purchasing eatables, clothes and footwear. In the last two year’s people couldn’t celebrate Eid due to covid 19 Pandemic
This year the cases were declined and restrictions were lifted people are buying things for the festival.
Besides excited shoppers, shopkeeper’s and vendors were seen happy after a large slump for two year’s due covid, their sales have increased many folds.Talking to this reporter one the shopkeeper Jan Sahab ( Jana Ready-made Style world ) from Pulwama said, Shoppers are not splurging like they used to do in the pre covid period.

Another Shopkeeper said, The Rush was also due to people buying food items for breaking the fast.Apart from local businesses, Dozens of non locals who were install stalls of clothes, shoes and other items in are doing brisk business.One of the non local while talking said, we are waiting for the year for this festival not only for good business also enjoying the hospitality and pleasant weather of Kashmir.Grand Mufti Kashmir, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam on Sunday said that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated across Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday as Shawal moon was not sighted anywhere in the region.The Eid will be celebrated on 03 May (Tuesday) in India, Pakistan and other countries.
