DC Srinagar Mohammad Aijaz Asad holds Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Lasjan

Srinagar : The Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Wednesday held a Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Lasjan area in Panthachowk Tehsil of the District in an endeavour to bring Administration at the door steps of the people for on spot resolution of developmental issues of the public under Weekly Block Diwas.

Vice Chairman, District Development Council, Srinagar, Bilal Ahmad, DDC member Lasjan and other PRI representatives, besides large number of people of Lasjan, Nowgam, Soiteng, Gundbal, Baginder, Padshaibagh and other adjoining areas were part of the Public Grievance Redressal Camp.

During the Grievance Redressal Camp, local PRI representatives, public delegations and individuals projected various issues and demands before the Deputy Commissioner.

The demands and issues put before the DC include establishment of Higher Secondary School in the area, augmentation of Water supply and drainage system, upgradation of High School Lasjan, development of playground, upgradation of sports infrastructure, resolution of jurisdictional issues, early completion of Soiteng bridge, setting up of Patwar Khanna, Veterinary centre, replacement & shifting of electric utilities, mitigating the issues of solid waste in the area, besides other development issues were flagged-off during the Grievance Redressal Camp.

The Deputy Commissioner after giving patient hearing to the issues and demands of the public, sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp.

The DC also assured the people of Lasjan, Soiteng and other adjoining areas that all genuine demands and issues projected by them will be taken up with concerned authorities on priority.

The DC also gave on the spot direction to the concerned officers for time bound redressal of the public issues. Addressing the gathering, the DC said the purpose of holding such grievance redressal camps is to take appraisal of local issues from the general public for precise and on ground assessment for their time bound redressal.

With regard to demand of Higher Secondary School projected by the local people, the DC passed on the spot directions to concerned Tehsildar to identify suitable patch of land for the purpose and also asked the Chief Education Officer to place indent for the same.

While responding to the ongoing anti-encroachment drive, the DC said that as per the directions of the Hon’ble High Court land eviction drive has been launched to retrieve Government land from the illegal possession only with the purpose of reverting it back for public/community use.

The DC assured the people that the common masses and poor people wouldn’t be touched during the ongoing anti-encroachment drive. He said the Government is particular to safeguard the interests of poor people and and secure their livelihoods.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner handed over the keys of Milk Van and sanction letters to progressive farmers for establishing 17 Dairy Units under different beneficiary oriented schemes of the Animal Husbandry Department.

The DC also handed over sanction letters worth Rs 7.90 lakh to beneficiaries of NRLM and NULM schemes for setting up of income generating units.

Later, the DC inspected various developmental works being carried out in the area and directed the concerned executing agencies to speed up the pace of works to complete them in set timelines.

The DC inspected the pace of ongoing work on 122 metre Soiteng, Lasjan Bridge being constructed at a cost of Rs 12.98 crore supposed to connect Pandrethan to Vethpara Lasjan areas.

On the occasion, the DC was apprised by the DGM JKPCC, Masood Ahmad that over 95 percent work on the bridge has been completed and is in its final phase.

The DC asked the concerned executing agency to speed up the pace of remaining work for levelling of approach road from both the sides and ensure its completion by March 2023 so that it is thrown open for vehicular traffic so that People from Soiteng, Lasjan, Padshahibagh, Athwajan, demand is fulfilled.

Besides, Chief Planning Officer Srinagar, Mohammad Yaseen Lone Assistant Commissioner Development, Syed Farooq Ahmad, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr Syed Abass, Chief Education Officer, Mohammad Shabir, Tehsildar, Panthachowk, Rakib Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Labour, Arshid Qadir, Lead District Manager, Abdul Majeed, and other District Officers and Engineers were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner visited the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) at JVC Hospital, SKIMS, Bemina to take stock of the functioning of the Centre and facilities being provided to the visiting drug affected persons.

On the occasion, the DC was given a detailed description about the operation of the centre by HoD Department of Psychiatry, Dr Abdul Majid.

The DC was informed that as many as 1600 patients have been given treatment at the Centre who are evaluated and followed by dispensing of medicines and scheduled counselling sessions.
