Awareness event held to mark World Hypertension Day

DC advises people to adopt healthy lifestyle

Rajouri : Intending to raise awareness and promote hypertension prevention, detection and control, the Department of Health and Family Welfare today organised an awareness event here to mark World Hypertension Day.A number of speakers spoke on the theme of the Day, ‘Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control it, Live Long’ at the event held in CMO office complex and presided over by Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal. The speakers highlighted the causes and preventive measures of hypertension and also advised the general public to regularly monitor their blood pressure to keep the hypertension at bay.

 

Speaking at the event, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the importance of the Day and this year’s theme. “The main aim of the day is to educate the public and increase awareness about causes and prevention of hypertension, which is also commonly known as high blood pressure” he addedHe said that high-stress levels, obesity, poor dietary habits and a sedentary lifestyle are some of the major causes of the increasing hypertension problem in young people. The DC underlined the need to create mass awareness about the causes and prevention against the Hypertension.The DC also advised the public to stay vigilant and don’t ignore hypertension as it is the primary factor for heart diseases and it can cause other diseases like dementia, kidney failure and other health problems.
