Various initiatives afoot to promote sports culture : DC Baramulla

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr G N Itoo today said that various initiatives are being taken to promote sports culture among our enthusiastic and aspiring youth adding that administration is committed to develop sports infrastructure in the district.DC made these remarks during the final cricket match of Singhpora Premier League at Singhpora Baramulla where he was invited as the Chief Guest.The tournament was organized by District Administration and Sports Department in collaboration with local organizers and about 16 teams participated in the league. The final match was played between Dardpora 11 and Sherdil 11.DC said that various sports activities are being organized to resume sports culture that were halted due to the outbreak of COVID-19

The final match was played between Dardpora 11 and Sherdil 11.DC said that various sports activities are being organized to resume sports culture that were halted due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.DC also said that sports has a positive and constructive role in our social and psychological development adding that such events enables our youth to divert their attention towards positive pursuits.Meanwhile, the DC distributed the awards among the winners and among other best performing players.He also emphasized that youth empowerment has been our priority and informed that, in the upcoming ‘Back to Village- Phase 3’ special focus shall be given towards redresses of issues and grievances that our youth is largely facing.
