Red Cross distributes Oxygen Concentrators for use by Covid patients

Srinagar : As part of the fight against Covid-19, the Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory Branch of Indian Red Cross Society handed over 55 Oxygen Concentrators to 03 prominent NGOs of Kashmir region.The concentrators were handed over by the Honorary General Secretary, IRCS JK, Kifayat Hussain Rizvi in presence of former General Secretary, IRCS JK, Mohammad Shafi Rather, Additional Commissioner, Kashmir Qazi Sarwar, Honorary Treasurer, IRCS JK G.A. Qureshi, Honorary Secretary, IRCS Kashmir Region, Mohammad Yousuf Zargar, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shopian Dr. Abdul Aziz Sheikh, Rouf Panjabi prominent of Red Cross, representatives from NGOs and other life members and volunteers of IRCS.The concentrators shall be offered to the needy Covid Patients through these NGOs.In his inaugural speech, Honorary General Secretary, welcomed all the participants in the event and informed that the Red Cross, which is an international movement, has been reaching out to the needy wherever required.Rizvi directed the NGOs to offer the concentrators as per the guidelines issued by the District Disaster Management Authority free of cost. He informed that the purpose of handing over the material to the NGOs was done in the interest of Covid patients residing in remote areas of the valley.He further informed that IRCS JK shall hand over the Oxygen Concentrators to prominent NGOs in Jammu Division on the same lines once the details are finalised. The Honorary Treasurer informed that IRCS J&K UT branch has been distributing Food kits, hygiene kits, Surgical face masks, soaps and other essential items during the second wave of Covid-19 through the Union Territory of J&K.Meanwhile, the IRCS, JK has further dispatched food kits, hygiene kits and masks to far flung areas of Shopian, Bandipora, Budgam and Tangdhar in Kupwara district. The Red Cross shall continue with the process of reaching out to the poor and needy in future also, he added.
