Rashtriya Ekta Diwas : Pledge taking ceremonies held across Jammu division

Jammu : Rich tributes were today paid to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary amid holding of Ekta pledges across Jammu division.The day is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), to commemorate the great contribution of India’s Iron Man towards integration and unity of the country in the post Independence era.

Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Ramesh Kumar paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as he administered the unity pledge to the officers and officials.

At Rajouri : To commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Patel, the District Administration Rajouri observed National Unity Day/ Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. The main program was organized in the DC Office complex where rich tributes were paid to Iron Man of India on his birth anniversary amid the holding of the Ekta pledge.

The Ekta Pledge was read out by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Dev Singh.Addressing the participants, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, highlighted the great contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel towards the integration and unity of the country in the post Independence era.

At Kathua : On the National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) District Administration Kathua organised a Pledge taking ceremony in the DC office complex where Assistant Commissioner, Revenue Kathua Sandeep Seointra administered Unity (Ekta) and Integrity Pledge to the officers and officials.

Similar pledge taking functions were held in other Government offices across the District.Earlier in the wee hours, Nehru Yuva Kendra Kathua organized ‘Run for unity’ from Sports Stadium Kathua which was flagged off by ACR Kathua wherein hundreds of young students of schools and colleges participated. The participants were also administered a Unity pledge on the occasion.

At Ramban : To mark the anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel as the National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas), District Administration Ramban organised a pledge ceremony in the District Administrative Complex.

Secretary Cooperative, Yasha Mudgal administered the pledge to the officers and officials to maintain the nation’s unity and to spread awareness about the contributions of the Iron man of India.

Earlier, Secretary Cooperative, Yasha Mudgal, Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mussarat Islam, ACR, Giasul Haq, and all other senior officers and officials also virtually participated in the function and took the pledge of Integrity administered by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on the theme ‘Corruption Free India for a Developed Nation’

Similar pledge-taking functions were also held in other Govt offices across the District in which the officers and officials participated with great enthusiasm.

At Reasi : To Commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on the birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, District Administration Reasi today organized a rally *Run for Unity* at General Zorawar Singh Stadium Reasi.

Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Babila Rakwal flagged off the “Run for Unity” rally from Sports stadium Reasi.On this occasion, ACR Sanjay Badyal,CHO Brij Vallabh, CEO Sunita, DIO Rajinder Digra, DSHO, LMO, Tehsildar Hqr and senior officers of different departments besides Heads of the educational institutions participated in the programme.

The rally was addressed by Babila Rakwal and highlighted the importance of national unity and integrity. She called upon the participants to emulate and follow the path of national integration. The main purpose of organizing the event is to maintain communal harmony, integration and sense of belongingness among the different sections of the society, she added.

The rally comprising staff members including students of various educational institutes participated in the rally wherein they carried banners, placards conveying the message of unity, integrity and upholding of security as envisioned by the legendary leader.

Earlier, a pledge was administered to officers/officials of different departments including students of various educational institutions during the programme.At the end, light refreshment was also distributed among the participants.

Meanwhile, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” (National Unity Day) was observed at STC Talwara with exceptional zeal and enthusiasm. The function was organized at Passing Out Parade Ground of this Institute in which Worthy Principal administered integrity pledge to all the staff of the Institute as well as trainees of Pre-Promotion Course.

A march-past was also presented by the trainees after the pledge ceremony. A befitting tribute is also paid to Sh. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel by undersigned on his birthday.At the end, the Principal STC Talwara remembered the contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in making a united India as after Independence there were more than 500 princely states in our country.

Undersigned emphasized that all of us should understand the importance of National Unity Day and we should always be united for the unity and national security of the country.

At Kishtwar : The “National Day for Unity” was observed across the district Kishtwar with great enthusiasm and gaiety. A number of activities were carried out by different departments under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr Devansh Yadav.

The Department of Youth Services and Sports organised ‘Run For Unity’ on Ekta Diwas under the banner of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas here from the DC Office complex.Around 250 Students from different schools took part in the run which was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner, Dr Devansh Yadav in presence of District Youth Services and Sports Officer K.L. Sharma and other dignitaries.

The special guest, Chief Education Officer Kishtwar Sudarshan Kumar Sharma had an interaction with the participants before the run started.Meanwhile, the DC also administered a pledge to the officials and staff of DC Office Kishtwar on the occasion of “Rashtriya Ekata Diwas” 2022 & Observance of Vigilance awareness Week” 2022 here at the DC Office complex.

A Pledge taking ceremony was also conducted by IRP-22nd Battalion Kishtwar at Battalion Headquarters Indiranagar to withstand the threats to the Unity, Integrity and Security of the Nation and to commemorate the 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallahbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.

Commandant IRP-22nd Bn, Rajesh Sharma spoke about Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, first Deputy Prime Minister/first Home Minister of India’s immense contribution to India’s freedom struggle and described him as a mass leader and architect of the integration of India.

The Commandant administered a unity pledge to the officers/officials of IRP-22nd Battalion Kishtwar to protect the unity, integrity and security of the nation as well as dedicating themselves for the unification of the country.

Similar programmes were held across the tehsil and block headquarters of District Kishtwar wherein scores of officials, students and persons from all walks of life took part with zeal.Meanwhile, NCC and NSS units of Government Degree College, Kishtwar also organised a 5km run under the title “Run for Unity”.

The run started in the morning from Government Degree College Kishtwar to Shakti Nagar (to and fro) covering a distance of 5km. Around 80 students participated in the event. Pledge for Unity was also taken by the participants. During the Run for Unity students raised slogans also.

The event was organised under the supervision and guidance of Lt.(Dr.) Madhu Bala (Associate NCC Officer), Prof. Sonika Sen (NSS Program Officer) and Akshay Sharma (CTO,NCC).

At Udhampur : To Commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on the birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, District Administration Udhampur organized a rally “Run for Unity” at District Head Quarter .Senior Superintendent of Police, Dr Vinod Kumar, along with Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan flagged off the “Run for Unity” rally from the DC Office Complex .

District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Sardar Swarn Singh, District Youth Officer, NYK, Khushal Gupta senior officers of different departments besides Heads of the educational institutions participated in the programme.

The rally, consisting of staff members including students of various educational institutions, Nehru Youth Kendra Volunteers participated in the rally wherein they carried banners, placards conveying the message of unity, integrity and upholding of security as envisioned by the legendary leader.

The rally passed through Slathia Chowk, Court road, Ramnagar Chowk, Gole market which culminated at Mini Sports Stadium Udhampur.Earlier, a pledge was administered to officers/officials of different departments including students of various educational institutions during the programme.At the end, light refreshment was also distributed among the participant.

At Samba : Deputy Commissioner Samba Ms Anuradha Gupta today presided over a pledge taking ceremony on the National Unity Day here today at Conference Hall DC office Samba.During the pledge ceremony district as well as sectoral officers also undertook the pledge.

Similar pledge taking ceremonies were also carried out at each panchayat under Back to Village programme and massive participation of students, employees, and locals was witnessed in district Samba.DC Samba on the commencement of Vigilance Awareness Week, today, exhorted upon officers to create massive awareness under the theme “Corruption free India for a developed Nation”.

The Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed from 31st October to 6th November, 2022.Department of Posts: On the occasion of National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) Department of Posts, J&K Postal Circle organized a ‘Run for Unity’, to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, to commemorate the legacy of one of the founding fathers of India.

The run was flagged off by Chief Postmaster General Jammu and Kashmir Circle, Niraj Kumar which started from Meghdoot Bhawan, Rail Head Complex and culminated at the same place after visiting the Balidan Stambh.

The run was led by Col Vinod Kumar Postmaster General, Jammu region in which officers and officials of the Department of Posts participated.The Unity pledge was also read out and the officials of the Postal Department took oath to preserve the Unity, Integrity and Security of the nation.

Jammu Municipal Corporation : As a mark of respect on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the architect of National Integration of Independent India, Jammu Municipal Corporation celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) and Anticorruption week.

In this regard, a Pledge taking ceremony was organized in the premises of Jammu Municipal Corporation. The pledge was taken by officers/officials of Jammu Municipal Corporation, headed by Mayor Rajinder Sharma.

He highlighted the role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for unification of India and added that we should put our every possible effort for fulfilling his dream which he saw for national integration and unification and it is the duty of every citizen to come forward and take pledge for the unity of the whole India.

Mayor JMC also stressed for a corruption free environment in the Corporation as well as other fields of developmental activities.

GDC Ramgarh : Unity Run was organized by Red Ribbon Club, Eco-Club & NSS unit ‘Prabha’ of the College on the eve of ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ which is celebrated to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ji under the able guidance and overall Supervision of Prof.(Dr.) Satinder Kaur, Principal, Govt. Degree College Ramgarh.

About 80 students of the college participated in the unity Run with great zeal along with Staff of the College. At the outset, Dr Sandeep Kumar, highlighted the contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Ji for the political integration of India by tying scattered states in one thread.

Speaking on the Occasion, Prof.(Dr) Satinder Kaur, Principal of the College, who is also the coordinator of the event, tinted that Sardar Patel’s supreme patriotism, iron will, and courage of conviction & vital role in the Indian freedom struggle and unification of States earned him the title of ‘Iron Man of India’.

The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day was introduced by the Indian government in 2014 to pay tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary for his extraordinary work in keeping India united.

Dr Aditi Khajuria, Prof. Seema Sharma, Dr Shamsher Lal, Prof. Risha kumara, Dr Ekta Rani, Dr Rahul Kundal & Dr Anjali Bala, the faculty members of the College also participated in the Unity Run.

The Sheep Husbandry Department celebrated National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) with great enthusiasm to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel known as the Iron Man of India.

All the officers/officials pledged to preserve the unity and integrity of the nation and also strive hard to spread the message among fellow countrymen. Excise Department: On the directions of Excise Commissioner, J&K Pankaj Kumar Sharma, and Under the supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive) Jammu, Kusum Sharma, Deputy Excise Commissioner (Distilleries), Ranjit Singh, Excise &Taxation Officer City Excise Range South Jammu, Swati Gupta, ETO Distillery wing Himanshi Gupta, and Sania Malik and officials of J&K Excise Department Jammu, observed Vigilance Week on the theme “Corruption free India for a developed nation in the office premises of J&K Excise Department Panama Chowk ,Jammu.

On the occasion Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge and Integrity Pledge was undertaken by the staff of Excise Department and emphasis was laid on implementing the pledge in letter and spirit.IIM Jammu organized “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at its both transit campuses Canal Road and Jallochak.

The event was initiated with a floral ceremonial tribute by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu at Canal Road Campus, and Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu at Jallochak Campus.The Faculty, Staff members, and students actively took the “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” and “Integrity” pledge on the solemn occasion.

They pledged to dedicate themselves to preserving the unity, integrity, and security of the nation and strive hard to spread this message among fellow countrymen in the spirit of unification of the country, which was made possible by the vision and actions of late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu addressed the audience at canal road campus where he emphasized the actions of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, the monumental importance, and the grueling groundwork of the efforts put in by The Iron Man.

GDC Ramban : Government Degree College, Ramban organized a pledge taking ceremony in commemoration of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas. A sizable student body and all the faculty members participated in the pledge.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College, Prof. Subhash Chander Sharma, underlined the need of peaceful coexistence, mutual tolerance and respect for each other as of paramount importance for building India strong and inclusive.

The College also organized a run for unity event in which as many as 50 students participated enthusiastically.
