Ramban admin gears up to establish District Disability Rehabilitation Centre

DC discusses modalities, reviews progress of UDID registration

Ramban : Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam today chaired a meeting to discuss the modalities for the establishment of the District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) in the district.

The meeting was attended by ADDC, Rajinder Sharma; CMO, Dr. Kamal Zadoo; Medical Superintendent DH, Mehboob Ahmed; DSWO, Rahul Gupta; CDPO, Ravindra Kour and several other officers.

After detailed deliberations, the meeting decided to establish the facility (District Disability Rehabilitation Centre} in the premises of the District Hospital.

It was informed that the centre would have the provision for multiple therapies like aqua therapy, yoga therapy, music therapy, and language therapy, besides a prosthetics production unit as well.

The persons with disability will also be imparted skills which will help them to improve their livelihood, the meeting was told. The DC said that the District Disability Rehabilitation Centre (DDRC) is an initiative of the Government to facilitate comprehensive services to Persons with Disabilities.

This centre would help in boosting confidence among disabled people, he added. Later, the Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the progress of registration of PwDs for issuing Unique Disability ID(UDID).

The DC directed the concerned officers to identify the beneficiaries to achieve 100% registration under this scheme.

The DC directed concerned departments to work in tandem to create awareness regarding the scheme so that needy and deserving beneficiaries get the benefits of the scheme.
