Rajouri admin organises maiden conclave of ULB, PRIs & officers

DDC calls for holding Gram sabhas on regular intervals; Close coordination between Public representatives, departments

Rajouri : To discuss the issues about developmental activities in the district, District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan today convened first ever conclave of the elected representatives and District Officers here at Town Hall Rajouri.Detailed deliberations on the Capex budget 2021-22 were held in the meeting. The DDC asked the concerned officers to ensure that the works taken up under the Capex budget in the current financial year are completed within the set deadlines.He also advised the public representatives to take the assistance of the Lokmitras for the effective implementation of the Government schemes and programs on the ground level.DDC Member Thanamandi, Abdul Qayoom Mir; DDC Member Sunderbani, Rajinder Sharma; DDC Member Seri, Sangeeta Sharma and DDC Member Darhal, Iqbal Malik attended the meeting.President MC Rajouri, Mohammad Arief; President MC Thanamandi, Shakeel Ahmed Mir; President MC Kalakote, Vijay Kumar Suri; President MC Sunderbani, Rajinder Sharma, ward councillors were also present in the meeting.BDC Chairperson Rajouri, Darbar Chowdhary; BDC Chairperson Seri, Neena Sharma; BDC Chairperson Siot, Bal Krishan; BDC Chairperson Sunderbani, Arun Sharma; BDC Chairperson Doongi, Raiz Chowdhary; BDC Chairperson Panjgrain, Mian Imran Chowdhary; BDC Chairperson Budhal New, Shamin Akhter; BDC Chairperson Darhal, Mohammad Aslam; BDC Chairperson Qila Darhal, Khalid Firdoz and BDC Chairperson Nowshera, Bodh Raj also attended the meeting. He said several projects are in progress which will further mitigate the developmental deficit in the district.Highlighting the objective of the session, the DDC said that such joint meetings of the Public representatives and officers are convened to bridge the gap between the Administration and elected representatives and these sessions would continue in near future also.”We all are the members of the same team and it is the time to work shoulder to shoulder with one another to take the developmental profile of the district to new heights”, the DDC observed.During the public durbars organised in the district, the issue of lack of coordination between the officers of the line departments has been projected by the public. DDC urged the elected representatives and officers to work with integrity, dedication and make outcome-based endeavours to yield fruitful results on the ground.Stressing on time-bound redressal of public concerns, the DDC advised the Public representatives and officers to make coordinated efforts to ensure that the genuine issues of the public are redressed in a time-bound manner to mitigate their sufferings.DDC said that the PRIs and the members of the Urban local bodies have been given the power to monitor the developmental works and check their quality as per the 73rd and 74th amendments and asked the public representatives to use this powerfully and ensure proper monitoring of the developmental works being carried out in their respective jurisdiction.Throwing light on the importance of holding Gram Sabhas, he said that Gram Sabha is the fulcrum of the Panchayati Raj and village development. People use the forum of the Gram Sabha to discuss local governance and development and make need-based plans for the village. He asked the PRIs and officers to ensure that Gram Sabhas are organised regularly.Talking about the measures being taken for enhancing the female literacy rate in the district, the DDC informed that necessary directions have been passed on to the concerned authorities for the hundred per cent enrollment of the girls between the age of 04 to 18 years in ten days.Enumerating the efforts being made for tourism promotion in the district, DDC said that several events are being organised to harness the tourism potential for giving the local economy a push.

He also highlighted the benefits of the welfare schemes of the labour department and urged the public representatives to get all the labourers of the district registered with the Labour Department to avail the benefits of these schemes. He also asked the PRIs to get all the eligible beneficiaries registered under the SEHAT scheme to enable them to avail the necessary health benefits of the scheme.While highlighting the advantage of ultra-high-density fruit plants like Citrus, the DC asked the PRIs to motivate the farmers to adopt the latest intervention in this field for maximum benefits.Giving details about the steps being taken to promote self-employment generation activities, the DC said that dedicated efforts are being made to generate more employment avenues to help the unemployed youth by providing them with the necessary platforms so that they can earn on their own and become independent and live a life which is full of confidence.”The members of SHGs were imparted special training for making craft goods by using pine needles. The district administration is intending to organise more such training sessions at Sub-divisional and Block levels”, the DC said.Elaborating the role of public representatives in curbing the menace of drug abuse among the youth, the DDC said that due to their proximity, they can play a pivotal role in counselling the youth against this social evil. He asked them to generate massive awareness among the youth about the hazards of drugs on health and environment.The DDC also asked the DDC members and BDC Chairpersons to prepare the sanitation plans of all the panchayats in their respective jurisdiction and submit the same at the earliest.He asked the concerned officers to maintain quality while executing the developmental projects and made it clear that no laxity shall be tolerated in this regard.The DDC also asked for generating mass awareness among the public about various schemes and programs launched by the Government and motivating them to avail the benefits of the same.
