Rajouri Admin, AIFT organise awareness program on plastic trash management

Rajouri : An awareness program on plastic trash management was held today in the Government Girls Model Higher Secondary School Rajouri to educate the students about the hazards of plastic on human health and the environment as well as appropriate management techniques.

The American India Foundation Trust (AIFT) and the District Administration Rajouri collaborated to put on the event. Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal was the chief guest at the event. During the program, the students spoke extensively about the negative impacts of plastic on human health and the environment as well as the significance of choosing eco-friendly alternatives to plastic.

During the event, the students also exhibited models for managing plastic garbage. In his address, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the need to reduce, reuse and recycle plastic trash and said that these three concepts may help manage plastic waste effectively.

He also underlined the need for strict enforcement of the ban on the use of single-use plastic (SUP) to combat pollution and plastic waste. He also said that changing behaviour requires raising knowledge about managing plastic waste and reducing the use of single-use plastics.

He also urged the students to serve as messengers for spreading awareness of the negative impacts that plastic has on the environment and inspiring people to choose eco-friendly alternatives to plastic. The students were later awarded prizes by the Deputy Commissioner in recognition of their innovative models for managing plastic garbage.

Chief Planning Officer, Mohammad Khurshid, Principal GGMHSS Rajouri, Abdul Raof Dar, BDO Rajouri, Chander Kant Bhagat and other staff members and students were also present during the program.
