Poshan Abhiyan: NHM hosts awareness Programme for Tribal community members

Kishtwar : National Health Mission J&K in collaboration with District Information Centre (DIC) organised an awareness programme on Poshan Abhiyan and Nutritional food for better health of women and children, here at Public Health Centre of tribal population dominated Keeru village. Medical Officer, PHC Keeru Dr. Nazia Kousar, Sr. Assistant DIC Kishtwar Vinod Kumar, Staff of PHC Keeru and Staff of DIC Kishtwar, Asha Workers, local artists and tribal men and women of Block Nagseni attended the awareness event held with due adherence to Covid protocols.The artists presented a theme based cultural programme featuring Nukkad Natak and folk songs to educate the locals about the importance of adequate Nutrition for better health of children, women and all adults. Through the street play, the local artists conveyed the message of a healthy living with nutritious diet, which was appreciated by everyone.

Speaking on the occasion, the Medical Officer PHC Keeru, Dr Nazia Kousar educated the participants about a nutritional diet to stay healthy and strong, besides explaining to them various activities under Poshan Maah.She also highlighted the benefits of nutrition for pregnant and lactating mothers and said health of tribal women and children, lactating mother and adolescent girls is an important aspect of Poshan Maah and Tribal women and children must focus on their nutrition.While educating the participants about good nutrition and complementary feeding, she urged all the participants to spread the message among their nears and dears . “Besides, they can visit PHC Keeru any time for any kind of information and patient care” , she added.During the programme, IEC material, face masks and sanitizers were also distributed among the participants by the Information Department, Kishtwar which was provided by District Red Cross Society Kishtwar.
