NRLM (UMEED) Shopian organizes 3 days Orientation programme for FCRPs

Shopian : The National Rural Livelihoods Mission (UMEED) Shopian today organised an orientation programme for Farm Community Resource Persons (FCRPs) at Shopian. The Programme was inaugurated by DDC Member, Raja Waheed in presence of Resource Persons from Animal Husbandry Department Dr Farhat, Dr Shafqat, District Managers of NRLM Shopian, Irfan and Uzma, Block Programme Managers of NRLM Shopian and Community Leaders besides cluster Coordinators from Self Help Groups of the district.

The 3 days programme shall focus on capacity building of already existing FCRPs to get acquainted and well trained as Community Animal care Service Providers (CASP) in the form of A-Help which is governed by policy framework already set by the Mission Directorate and Animal Husbandry Department.

The training will be a step towards last mile coverage of rural areas where clinical services for livestock are not available on time or expensive to afford for rural poor. On the occasion, Raja Waheed DDC member Shopian lauded the prospective efforts of the Administration in which departments are carrying convergence to have better and effective penetration of services at the doorsteps of rural populace particularly for women folk.

“A-HELP’ training programme is a new feature added in the curriculum of NRLM intervention under the efforts and guidance of the Mission Director, NRLM. In due course of time further value addition in terms of trainings and capacity building, both theoretical as well as field based will be held to strengthen the programme at grassroots level, said DPM Livelihoods NRLM Uzma Mehraj.

District Programme Manager FI, Irfan Basheer further shared that as per governments outreach programme in rural areas, these CRPs will be given basic training related to animal husbandry so that when complaints of minor diseases of Livestock are received in the area of their operation, they can deal with them at their own level.

The participants will also be provided training related to dairy and caretaking of the livestock that will further lead to an increase in quality as well as quantity of milk in rural areas. It was intimated on the occasion that District Shopian has 31 farm CRPs across erstwhile Block Shopian, out of which 7 has been identified as A-Help professionals and they will be further trained by SKUAST-K and NBDD.
