Nehru Yuva Kendra celebrates ‘Constitution Day’ at Anantnag

Anantnag : Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Anantnag in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority Anantnag and GDC Boys today organised and celebrated the ‘Constitution Day’ at GDC Boys Khanabal, here. On the occasion, Preamble to the constitution was read and oath was taken by the participants.

Various speakers on the occasion highlighted the importance of the constitution and the rights guaranteed by the constitution of India for its citizens and its history background etc. Principal GDC Boys while speaking on the occasion said that on this day the constitution of India was adopted in 1949 and is celebrated every year to honour and remember the Father of constitution Dr.B.R Ambedkar and to spread the importance of constitution of India.

Professor and HOD Political Science, Farooq Ahmad briefly gave the detailed overview of the Indian constitution and its comparision with the other democracies of the world besides the role of the constitunal bodies in development of the country.

Representatives of the DLSA also highlighted the importance of the constitution and stressed upon the students and volunteers of NYK to have first hand information of the Indian constitution. Deputy director NYK, Mohd Khalil Mir speaking on the occasion said that NYK is celebrating the day every year and is organising awareness on fundamental duties and rights, webinors, lectures, discussion, administering the pledge on fundamental duties, conducting Kartavaya Samvaad, constitution quiz, theme based skit, play etc as a part of constitution day celebration.

Present on the occasion were representatives of DLSA, Faculty members of college, students of college, volunteers of NYK besides various other stake holders. Pledges were also taken in public institutions, schools and at other places in the district.
