Poonch : The second phase of ‘My Town, My Pride’ today culminated in the municipal areas of Poonch and Surankote. Secretary in the Social Welfare Department, Bhawani Rakhwal, along with Director FCS&PA Jammu, Dr. Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, – the visiting officer for Poonch Municipal Council, presided over the Second day.
They also chaired a meeting of the Councilors of Poonch Municipal Council and officers of the District Administration. Municipal Council Poonch President and Vice President along with councilors raised a number of issues mostly pertaining to better connectivity.
The specific issues discussed included blacktopping of all Municipal roads, appointment of new sanitation workers in Municipal Council, Renovation of Parks, improvement of Health sector, augmentation of water supply and other issues.
Interacting with the members of ULB Poonch, he said ‘My Town, My Pride’ was launched to get first hand feedback from all the stakeholders to plan the developmental needs of urban population, ensuring timely redress of problems, besides prioritizing speedy execution of identified works.
He also said that the Government is committed to provide better Service delivery to its citizens. During the meeting, Secretary, Secretary Social Welfare Department directed KVIB, District Industries Centre Poonch , DUDA and J&K Bank to further speed up the disbursement of loans so that the beneficiaries could start their respective ventures on time.
He also directed the Horticulture department to promote horticulture in Urban areas. Further, the Medical department was directed to issue disability certificates to the concerned so that they could avail the benefit of social security schemes.
AYUSH department was directed to hold Yoga Camps regularly in Urban areas. DYSSO was directed to ensure the participation of students from 4th standard to 7th standard in sports activities so that the existing sports infrastructure shall be utilized fully.
Whereas, Joint Director Youth Sports and Services, Sh. Suram Chand visiting Officer for MC Surankote chairs a meeting with Councilors, prominent citizens and officers also. The visiting officer registered all the grievances and assured that all their grievances and demands shall be redressed with the intervention of the concerned departments.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Poonch, Additional Deputy Commissioner Poonch, General Manager DIC, DTO, EO MC Poonch, LDM J&K Bank, Chief Education Officer Poonch, ARTO, XEN PWD, XEN JPDCL, XEN I&FC, XEN PMGSY Poonch/Mendhar and other officers.
